Was never about the 2.50 cent he got aggressive because the boys ask for a free ride if it was over 2.50 cent why he didn’t just let them ride.He got off the bus tryna fight the boys & he pulled a gun & shot him ! SELF DEFENSE
As a driver, I would not be arguing over $2.50. Let them on and call the police if necessary. There should be a fund for situations like this where people cant pay. No way in hell im dying over $2.50. People are crazy.
That use to be my route when i was with marta never tripped over a fare i didnt care if everyone rode for free i was coming home until i had a gun pulled on me marta did nothing just pull over call the police i was told by the time police get thier the situation would have been like this i quit the next day after 4 years and never looked back
MANY MARTA drivers have a nasty attitude towards the riders & dirty actions like passing riders up when they see you approaching a bus stop (like 5 feet away from the stop) or driving recklessly (brake jerking or hard cutting corner turns while riders are still trying to get seated) or talking down to passengers over the fares, etc., etc. I've seen it all since I've been back in Atlanta & every morning that I get up, I hesitate thinking about having to ride a MARTA bus due to being treated like trash! THIS DOES NOT condone what those young men did to that driver; however, there's always two sides to every story. WHAT was the driver's tone of voice when he told them to pay? Was he or she disrespectful & hostile? Just saying what I've seen & heard as a MARTA rider of routes #150, #87, #5, #39. In closing, I & other passengers have routinely been stranded by MARTA buses that never show up, but on today, January 5th, 2025, MARTA ran back-to-back bus shuttles for former President Jimmy Carter's passing & I couldn't help but wonder where all of those buses & drivers are when regular frequent riders need to get to work or get home from work & are left stranded? WITHOUT RIDERS, bus drivers don't have jobs! If we had cars or our own personal modes of transportation, MARTA would not be in business! Even when you call the customer concern center, they even have a nasty disposition over the phone regarding driver attitudes! I guess because we are poor, we deserve mistreatment & hostility from black drivers who look like us! MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!
Prayers to the family. He was enforcing the bus companies policies while the supervisors/managers that hold the drivers responsible for enforcing that policy DO NOT DEAL WITH THE GENERAL PUBLIC. We live in a world where people have all the material things but no social skills nor emotional integrity. Let them on and keep it moving. I have seen people get on with a cup of coffee, $200 sneakers and expensive phone and not pay THEIR fares. Get better protection for the drivers. Most of us ride public transportation only because we have to not because we want too.

This guy got off the bus and started swinging on these kids. I’ve seen the video. MARTA employees do not de-escalate, they are rude, nasty and prone to violence. I have had my own run ins with angry MARTA employees. I was the one who took out my phone to record the altercation, de-escalated, and then filed a complaint with MARTA. I’m not going to jail or worse simply because I’m using public transportation to get to work.
