  1. Window's aren't an issue. TV scree w/camera's looking out to recreate the view. Some type of polarized or holographic display with a 3d camera so you could simulate looking out from one sid to the other or have the view change as your relative position to the window changes.

Recreating artificial sunlight is a bit more of a challenge but for the most part doable…intensity, spectrum, UV and Infrared light, adjustments to simulate Circadian Rhythms, etc.

The larger window issue is ventilation on Taco Tuesdays.

  2. RAY BRADBURY The Martian Chronicles – good read., and , since I know you are a BOWIE aficionado how about the album ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS. Good early Bowie, nice concept album. Released after the breakout (at least here in the states) MAJOR TOM. Had the pleasure of seeing him in one of his first New York shows before he was well known. I was floating in a most peculi-ar way. Love your videos NP.

  3. Once we pull our heads out of our A**ES and get to advancing the "Human Condition" further, then we can consider going to Mars and even a "MOON BASE ALPHA" but until then we won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Politics F**Ks everything up. I think we ALL can concur on that one?

  4. There's an interesting TV show called For All Mankind that I also want to recommend for you. It basically follows an alternative history of the U.S. space program beginning in the 1960s down to current day (and I presume will eventually get into the future). What's interesting is that in this alternate history humans have a permanent base on the Moon and land on Mars just before out current time. It's sci-fi but it's not in a fantastical way like in Star Trek. The technology is very much relatable and credible compared with current technology. It's very much historical fiction which makes it more realistic and plausible.

  5. It would be easier just to build an orbiting space habitat. Why suck yourself down into a gravity well when you don’t have to? And why not have it orbit closer to the sun where there is unlimited free energy? In fact don’t send humans at all… just build energy collecting satellites around the sun and find an efficient way to get the power to earth.

  6. 2051 is the year the first manned mission to Mars lands, followed in two years via a resupply mission. I don’t remember SpaceX’s starship designations, as my passage through the time Vortexx via Ion-Pulse Transverse-Dimensioning was quite violent, and my head injuries severe.

  7. We won't. Will it be a truly unified humanity? Will the US demand to be in charge? Under what nations laws will people be prosecuted under for committing crimes? Will the corporates take over and demand corners be cut to save them money? And, who do they blame when it all goes wrong?

Too many variables. Plus, I have no faith in humanity to come together on such a project.

    Cynic? Possibly.

  8. everyone who understand physics can tell you mars has no future, its wasted ressources.

you will never be able to terraform mars because:

    – mars has a too small mass to retain its athmosphere (ask yourself where the old athmosphere has gone)
    – mars has no magnetosphere to shield athmosphere and people on the ground

    ….. thats enough.

thats all you need to know.

And now we can start talking about weird people who pray to elon 'jesus' musk who has no physics degrees,
and effectively no clue about all the things i mentioned above.

A moonbase makes sense – a mars base with the goal of a "colony" does not – you would have to move underground because of the radiation
and live of veggies that you can grow under a lamp, until the lamp fails.

All for a vision that can physically never come true.

  9. The one thing this Kurzgesagt video got wrong is that, more than likely, any Martian colony trip would be a one-way ticket, at least for the first several decades. There just wouldn't be the leftover resources required to launch return rockets home. Every ounce of materials sent to Mars would likely be needed just to survive.

I do think that we're likely to have a manned mission to Mars by the 2030s, but that would probably play out similarly to the manned Moon landings, with a lot of specialized equipment designed to just get a few astronauts to Mars and back again.

  10. We would have to get into the right mindset. Even if it was planned as a return trip the chance is that one or more people would die on the way, on the planet, or on the way back. You could find people willing to go knowing it was a one way trip, but imagine being the last survivor.

  11. BE Realistic, No one is stepping foot on Mars in your LIFETIME. Be realistic, THE COST is enormous, whos paying for that?? and for what reason? you cant travel 9 months in a TINY Cockpit cramped up, and you have to bring A TON OF Food , you cant GROW meat, you would NEED a HUGE SHIP< it took ten Years to build the SPACE STATION, and Billions of dollars you need a MUCH bigger ship than going to MOON, STAYING ON MARS is even HARDER with MORE FOOD, FUEL, MONEY the DANGER, ETC… its just not Happening WHO has the money for this and WHY spend it? we get nothing back for it

  12. the COST of going to mars is NOT explained in BOOK, ( of course), and the spaceships in the book and movie are HUGE and over 100 years off, if EVER due to COST, we wont build anything CLOSE to that size ( COST) and Time to build in space takes a long time , the amount of FUEL and FOOD, WATER you need to take is MASSIVE to get off ground, so you have to build in space which is COSTLY and Time consuming , , the book just IGNORES these things , its just not happening any time soon

  13. I work offshore as a mechanic for the oil and gas industry in the North Sea. It can be extremely hard work in tough and gruelling conditions. However, we are extremely well looked after in regard to catering and hospitality. But let me say that towards the last few days of our TWO week shift, we are all thinking about boarding the helicopter to return to shore. I imagine that the first pioneers would have to be extremely tougher both physically, emotionally and mentally. Good luck and God speed to those brave first pioneers.

  14. 2036 will launch the first attempt at permanent habilation of Mars. No idea if the attempt will succeed. It can only be peermanent until it isn't. Will our humans in space record be broken when or if the ISS ia ever shut down. Stay tuned..

  15. If you're curious about what future space colonies might look like, go watch the show "For all Mankind". And for your music recommendation, I think David Bowie's 'Major Tom' would go nicely with your video! Also, read the book series 'The Expanse'. It's the best acclaimed space opera out there and my number one recommendation for all the sci-fi nerds!😁
    Cheers!
