So YouTube seems to have done something untoward to the video. We imagine it'll be sorted sooner rather than later.
Enjoy the weirdness whilst it lasts I suppose 😎
Don't get me wrong but basing a review on the 200cc class doesn't work for me, surely it's a valid point but playing Mario Kart mostly as a party game with friends we use 100cc almost all of the time. I think you should base your track rating more on that with maybe a hint that 200cc is too fast for a circuit.
2:16, you can't complain about this, that is just you having a skill issue, same thing happens on 150cc, just get good
The greatness of the bathroom level makes me think they should do a Mario game where Mario is shrunk down and has to make his way through a normal person's giant house.
Could call it Super Mario Playhouse or something. I'd buy that.
You can tell these guys don't even touch online where this game works best, plus they seriously need to get someone that is at least good at the game to record footage, that was straight up painful to watch, i'm guessing they don't even mention some of the buffs and nerfs of more karts since wave 4. I get that this is a nintendo game, its got its casual fans but at this point this isn't a review its just two idiots with no idea what they're talking about complaining about their own shortcomings of playing the game in 200cc and being crap at the game
I thought the courses were fine. I wasn’t as nostalgic for these courses as I was other course packs. But I love the characters they added. I do wish they added karts for them though
Wow, I never thought I'd see a day where I completely agree with practically everything said in this video 😀
“Challenge is completely nonexistent” (character gets hit by two cars in 6 seconds)
Nintendo life is just ass at 200cc, wave 5 is awesome
In Daisy Cruiser we are missing the life preservers hanging towards the end of the track.
Overall, my biggest issue with the updates in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the game as a whole is it's way too fast and many of the "newly realized" retro tracks are smaller than the original. I play 50cc almost consistently and it's still so much faster than the older games, most notably my favorites; Double Dash and Mario Kart 7. Which is just not my cup of tea. I can't even imagine 200cc because I don't play it in that mode.
If your gonna rank them in 200cc keep the intention of 150cc in mind. Please just “git gud”
I really hope they add the sunset transition in an update or something.
The whole beauty of the track was that transition what have they done to my boy.😢
MK8 JUST A REMINDER was never intended to be played on 200cc it was a FREE UPDATE for the og Wii U version, that wasn't at launch :/ L reviewers
Why would you play 200 first for a review? Makes 0 sense 🙄
this is a terrible review please stop making these
Tbh I always start at 50cc so I can see and enjoy the beauty of the tracks. Then I make my way up
Playing these courses at 200cc first is incredibly stupid. I cannot take this review seriously due to that.
I swear every review it's "this is awful too sharp of turns I played on 200cc"
When will you guys learn
Please play the game on 150cc for the sake of review I beg of you
FFS guys stop playing these courses at 200cc on your first playthrough! You're practically begging for your experience to be ruined. These coursed were never designed with 200cc in mind and you should really try them out at a normal speed and switch to 200cc once you're familiar with the layout. That's what I do and I find the courses significantly more enjoyable as a result.
I actually liked this wave, don't get all the hate in this video
The only ehhhhh track for me is sunset wild and I like the new characters
Alot of these maps look empty. The number of objects and hazard have gone to down, is to make it easier?
Seriously you guys really disappointed me with judging based on 200
The people have spoken. This needs updated
I’ve never disagreed with an analysis in my life more than this. The game isn’t balanced for 200cc. It’s a casual game. It’s meant to be played with people and friends so items are important, and they are missing key details of previous iterations of courses that they just skip over saying it’s how it was. Come on guys
I felt the same way re:Daisy Cruiser 'missing something' and i know what it is – im over 30 prob close to yalls age and if you also played it on the gamecube back then after the n64 version any sort of unique setting (like a cruise ship) or obstacle was a big deal so the pool at the start and the underground (not underwater originally) section as well as the sliding tables – the thing is, even with all these things brought back and made better (pool is drivable and underground section is flooded etc) it STILL feels lacking cuz when first playing it back int he day it felt SO unique that we remember it as this crazy unique track but because mk8dx and the series in a whole has evolved SO much we subconciously compare Daisy Cruiser to our memories of the OG version which were likely 'wow how unique all these obstacles are!' and now they're considered pedestrian, no gliding or antigrav, two split paths (at the start and underwater or not but thats it)
I genuinely found this to be the best wave AND the Feather Cup to be the best cup so far – Athens is S/A tier for me, Daisy Cruiser's a solid B Tier, Moonviews a low A Tier and Squeeky Clean is S tier (so S, S, B, A) and even the double cherry cup is one of the best in the game with TWO amazing city tracks that feel very unique in style AND in lap layout/sections etc, Koopa Cape is really fun esp as i never played it on ds/wii etc and then the weakest track is Sunset WIlds (but NOT CUZ OF THE SUN NOT SETTING, its aesthetic and idc, it was cool on the gba, as a gimmick, over 20yrs ago when i was like 10 but atleast the coconut mall cars actually affected gameplay – i still think its a beautiful track, decently fun layout, just too flat but i like the ending run with the placement of the jumps/items and shortcut to by the finish line so its solidly in the middle of C tier for me, the epitome of an avg track
I can safely see each wave has bested the previous one though idk how hard they go with wave 6 since im firmly in thecamp that believes we will get a BCP2 to get the rest of the tracks in one game, make more money for nintendo and keep an 8yr old game relevent and its fans patient while the core MK team continues work on the next gen MK game
HOT TAKE (apparently?) – the Sunset Wilds 'sun not setting' complaints ridiculousness is only amplified by the facts its: totally aesthetic, most of those whining never even played the OG they 'miss so much' or were even alive for it AND they act like it ruined the track which is nuts AND sayin it ruined the BEST WAVE YET which is just pitifully cringe imo
HOT TAKE: Squeeky Clean actually made me realize how mid Yoshis Island is (i rarely see it picked online anymore) if you took all the theming out and jus thad the base track layouts Yoshi's about as basic as it gets, two quick turns, a very brief underwater section where ur just falling, an uphill ramp to the glider, a tiny cloud section then youre gliding down to the final turn…squeeky clean has actual alt paths (not just the magic bridge) and is way more engaging imo…the theming of Yoshi's Island is doing a LOT of heavy lifting whereas the actual track quality i whats making SCS so much better, i mean it picked about as boring a theme as possible (bathroom) and still made it way more fun than a yoshi's island themed track
MY BIGGEST WAVE 5 COMPLAINT IS PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT A PURELY AESTHETIC MISSING SUNSET
Maybe its cuz i dont play Tour so city tracks are all new to me but there are at LEAST 6 or so city tracks that are easily above avg even compared to the 48base courses imo (Singapore, Athens, Vancouver, Sydney, LA, Amsterdam, Bangkok) and even Paris, London, Berlin and NYC to a lesser extent were all atleast decent if a bit forgettable and frankly the only one i found below avg was Tokyo Blur which is the worst track in the entire game/DLC (which is a bummer cuz A.) i was born in Tokyo and B.) its one of the coolest looking cities in the world and got the most boring generic highway track of all time…like a highway track with no cars? Cmon Bruh….
I know they only wanna show the nice parts of LA but Skidrow is SO famous and also, a PERFECT name for a track' SKID – ROW' i mean, there would be a LOT of Shy Guy Junkies and Goomba Homeless Camps blocking the road but still
Random Thought but for Ribbon Road and Squeeky Clean they should just add an intro animation showing Lakitu 'shrink' everyone down or something – could see a new MK game that focuses on the idea of being shrunk down and making wild enviroments out of everyday places (doctors office/post office/playroom/man cave/ etc)
they should do a whole cup of 'shrunk down tracks' like ribbon road and squeeky clean but to make it less jarring add an animation of lakitu 'shrinking' everyone before the race starts etc
it was SO refreshing to hear people admit that the sun set gimmick DIDNT ruin the track since its, ya know, aesthetic, and its a 20plus year old gimmick from a GBA game most peopel complainging never even saw/played lol
Re: Koopa Cape my fav strat is to charge a UMT on the way into the waterfall pipe and even though youll bump off the fence it keeps charging then when you land you can release it and its SO satisfying, TWD first mentioned it but said it was too risky online but fwiw im not great at shortcuts etc and im 6 for 6 trying it so far so def worth learning
All 3 city tracks were A tier or S tier this wave (Athens, LA, Vancouver) and i fking love it, esp a non-Tour player
i bring this up cuz id why every YT mario kart channel is reviewing these in 200cc (TWD/Nintendo Life and more), the game was MADE for 150cc so they get way worse impressions of what are CLEARLY the best tracks we've gotten from a single wave yet…
SO, am i the only one that much prefers a harder competition in 150cc than easier compeition on 200cc, i dont like the 'challenge' to come from not breaking enough or slwoing down or hitting unavoidable things since the courses were built for 150 id rather the competition comes from everyone else being good at taking lines/maximizing item use etc – and 150cc is way more satisfying to race on rarely even driftbreaking and drifting on great lines…id be fine with 200cc in the next game IF they make specific 200cc courses or a GP etc but yeah, anyone else feel this way?
*only bummer is the only way to get any kind of 'challenge' without playin 200cc if ur offline is to do vs. races in 4-48 track tourneys which are fun but you can set the AI to Hard on 150cc which is good but pretty easy to dominate over time so i nerdily keep a spreadsheet where ill post my records for varios types of 24-48track tourneys, sometimes all DLC for example but yeah, when wave 6 drops i can do the 96 MONSTER cup in two parts by doing vs mode hard ai tracks in order but again, im just recording my point total (and avg points per race, fwiw i avg about 14.5 a race which means im getting first in like 4/5 races and 2nd in the 5th but in reality i get a lot more firsts but randomly get RNG'd into 5th lol
Pretty much most of the issues they have can be solved by playing on 150cc. The speeds the games were intended for.
Every review is like you guys are on such an ego trip when it comes to this game you're unable to come down from 200cc because "lol its an old game we know it like the backs of our hands"
It looks fine.i think 200cc was a bit much for you guys.
My childhood was at the amiga 500…pinball dreams, shadow of the beast, sensible soccer and ofc…Lemmiiings!
These GameCube graphics looks great.
