  1. So the reason cortana wrecks cov ai is she was made using forerunner tech and halsey. As according to reach. And with cov tech being comparable to wish ordering an ai it wasnt hard to fight.

  2. I'm of two minds on the idea of 343 taking inspiration from Marathon's time shenanigains for H:I. On the one hand, I think it's fine as long as they have a good writing team – which 343 DOES HAVE! Not a lot happens in Infinite but what does happen is very well written, and when combined with the environmental storytelling 343 has always been phenomenal at there's a real chance to make it work out. Hell, if FF14 can have two completely different types of time travel almost back to back with each other hand have both of those stories be some of the best video game stories ever written, Halo going full-on time travel can work as well.

On the other hand – 343 isn't managed well enough to pull this off. Infinite has problems at a very basic level. Not in terms of the narrative, or the setting, but the *game itself*. Part of that is the fucked-in-the-head contractor system they use, part of that is the double-whammy of throwing out literally everything made so far after 5 bombed and then COVID hitting. This is a game where just using your regular abilities regularly in a certain level WILL softlock your game CONSISTENTLY. It's taken almost 10 years for the game to come out in basically a beta state, it took another full YEAR for Campaign Co-Op to come out, and in that time, the game has barely received any updates, hasn't received so much as a map pack for multiplayer, and Forge still isn't out yet and it might be several more months before it DOES come out.

I have every confidence that, if they really wanted to, 343 could make a legitimately good time travel plot. Infinite has given me confidence in 343's ability to write a Halo game. But I don't think it's possible on a technical level. Not without just starting from scratch and making an entirely new game.

  3. Damn you can really see where all the inspiration for Halo's story is inside of Marathon, super cool they kept using similar themes in later games, just, a lot lot easier to digest lol
