  1. This also comes to the question of why is Jon’s parentage even that big of a deal. Like it doesn’t change who he is or what he believes in. And thematically the story is about a rjeection of bloodline bs that is the key like argument for feudalism

  2. Why does it matter if Jon’s not Ned’s son he wasn’t raised by anyone else and his morality is very similar to Ned’s. Beyond at this point in the story we don’t have much space for more feudalism bs, specially since the story is how this feudal lords squabbles are basically leading Westeros to die off to an ice zombie invasion , or plague or starvation

  3. I have a really damn good theory about Mance Rayder…… If you take all the evidence from past to present and line it all up and then look at benjen Stark the old bear Lord Mormont and how they contributed to the watch and also how much Lord eddard Stark had respect for the night's Watch and then how much Jon Snow has learned from all of them while being elected to the Lord commander of the watch after you take all that and you line it all up you'll realize that I'm really just wasting time here to get it to where nobody can see what it says without having to click read more because my theory is that Mance Rayder is obviously None other than…….

…….Mance Rayder!!!! Lol and everything else is just either misdirect or sleight of hand to take our thoughts and plans and ideas away from the other things that really are mysteries.

  4. "R+L=D"
I will die on the hill that Dany is just the daughter of some Lyseni woman bought after the Queen and her baby died in child birth.
There are no surviving Targs. Jon is Ned's, Aegon is a Blackfire, and Dany is a 14 year old girl turning into a monster on behalf of someone elses legacy. (This is like 65% a joke)

  5. Jon Snow starts as a privileged kid who thinks he got it so hard, then he grows into a leader of some of the recruits & is catapulted into the position of Lord Comender. His parentage was a secret, but him growing as Ned's child defined what he became.
Now, he's dead & his watch has ended. It no longer matters if he's the One True descent of House Targaryen, because he's dead & no Westerosi lord in their right mind will think ever about considering crowing a fire wight as King of the Seven Kingdoms.

Mance is a Faceless man who fled the House of Black and White, because he can hide himself anywhere and he takes so many aliases. He might be ahorse.

  6. This is actually pretty interesting.

These new father guesses imply that they're fine with Leanna being the mother.

So they REALLY have to stretch and make a case for how any of those men can be a better fit than what the story provides, rumors or no.

  7. Mance has a firmly cemented backstory as a wildling baby raised by the watch and who later deserted, which is cross-referenced multiple times by different characters and there are like dozens, maybe 100s of men in the watch who have known Mance since he was a kid. The watch raising a kid is smth incredibly unusual and memorable – every night's watch men knows the story – anyone who was there would repeat the story again and again, and if it didn't happen the people who were there would certainly object if stories about that would be made up. You telling me 200+ men at the shadowtower were gaslighted into believing a fake story about how they raised a wildling baby?
No one who actually read the text should unironically believe that Mance=x nonsense, it's like unironically believing 2+2=5
