He asked if he could throw the knives out. Why in the world did they tell him no when they could have said for him to drop them out of the driver window. Did they think he was a ninja and could throw knives faster than they could shoot their weapons while watching him drop the knives? They could have commanded him to hold them one by one with just using the thumb and index finger, but assuming they would be stabbed and keeping the knives in the vehicle kept the possibility alive that they could have to shoot him in self defense.
You would think that in 2022, there would be safer ways to handle a mental illness situation, ways that don't include killing the mentally ill teen.
Police do more harm than good these days.
Officers do not know how to handle mental health issues. They get frustrated with the illness forgetting that logic has no place of existence when dealing with mental illness situations yet they fix the narratives to end the situation with use of their firearm as a reason to enforce an order that was commanded. Why not call less lethal to the scene? He said he had knives, not a gun.
I work in emergency services. I think honestly you just need to wait it out in a: situation like this. Almost like laying siege to a city. He eventually would get out of the vehicle. If he became little more hostile you could break the back window and gas the car. I don’t know why you would break the window where he can get at you with a knife
We have to get out and March for this young men this is not right he hasn’t did nothing wrong he needed his help and called for help but All they did was make it worse these cops aren’t here to serve and protect at all we pay our taxes to help do this to us we are the people and they need us we don’t need them
We can’t keep allowing the cops to harm us no matter what color are we we need to come together as one as a nation cause the cops come together for there story and then they beat cases like this when this kid never even attempt to hurt none of those cops do you even see the cop standing on the hood he just wanted a reason to shot even if the car had rock a little he just blood thirsty all them cops was blood thirsty to kill not to help they have body cameras on not one cop can even be a good cop and say he needs help he having a mental breakdown not one of them wanted to be a hero at all cause they afraid they we’ll lose there job for being a hero to help this kid and then not one of them we’ll tell the correct story on this

I'm no expert but could they have not just left…. he wasn't a danger to anyone. He was literally crashed.. not like he was driving anywhere.. I don't get it
he offered to throw the knifes out of the car and the cop said NO. the cop literally left them in danger by letting him keep the knife.
if he let him throw the 1 inch knife out the window like he asked to do,
the cops would have been safe to extract him safely and get him some much needed help.
instead they kept saying he has a knife he has a knife and then proceeds to scare him and then ultimately kill him.

Why would they immediately start treating this guy as a criminal when he called for help? Every cop there needs to get LIFE in prison. There is NO excuse for what they did. My prayers are with the parents of this man. You will be reunited with him soon. He's with the Lord!

It has to do with police training. No reasonable person would shoot another person who is with a knife tightly secured in his own car. You have to be trained to make such a drastic move. I imagine the training is like this: when faced with even the slightest POTENTIAL threat, you must react with overwhelming and disproportionate force to neutralize said threat

if he didn't wanted to come out of the car, why did he called the police?
he had all the time to throw the weapons out of the car before police came but he didn't and even after police came, he argued with them for and hour.
and police also didn't seem to know what they were doing, there was no need to kill him as far as i can see in the video.
These cops were very careless, reckless and very unconcerned about this young man’s mental health! For an hour of talking why didn’t they call for mental health intervention to come. The young man said he would throw his weapons out of the car. HE’S IN HIS CAR! Those cops were not in any danger. He told that 911 rep that he had mental problems. They just shot that young man. I do hope that this family get the full justice for their son. Hopefully when there’s a person of color going through a mental crisis. And the police is involved and that person is kill by the police. There might be a better idea of what has been going on with these ready to shoot police officers.
