Man jumps from second-story balcony to escape apartment fire

One man in his 30s was transported to the hospital after jumping from his second-story balcony to escape the flames, said fire crews, who used ladders to rescue three other people from their balconies.

A new ranking by the Seattle police union suggests a dire picture for public safety in the city, assigning the lowest score to date in the group’s weekly index on crime and staffing levels.

Drivers on 4th Avenue and Battery Street will be automatically mailed a warning letter and then ticketed $75 for illegally blocking crosswalks and intersections, the Seattle Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.

I have my degree in criminology and it's not easy to become an officer you know I'm 47 and some of these officers or the police departments have age limit so I can't even apply at some places and I qualify I can pass the background check the lie detector I can pass everything at some places they won't hire me because of my age I don't know if everyone is like that I do know the state patrol they don't have an age limit

You know that police officer is f**** things up right now we're not calling for defunding the police and he knows that we're calling for a reallocation of sources we need social workers in there I live in Edmonds and we don't have any social workers we lost two of them during covid and so they asked me to apply but I'm not sure for what position

  4. Maybe you should put all of the street lights on the same fucking time, then, seattle. There are slow lights, fast lights and normal length stop lights. It's the fault of the drivers that they can't prophesy when each light will turn yellow…when they didn't choose to have a dozen different time lines for how long each light stays green?
I've had lights turn green for LITERALLY 1 SECOND, followed by a 1 second long yellow light, and then right back to red.
"Don't put all of the lights on the same length of time, so that drivers actually know how long they have…. just leave the shitty system in place and then financially fuck the community for it…" 🇺🇸

  5. Seattle P.D. has been partially defunded, has no support from the city, no support from city leaders and are being shot, stabbed and assaulted more than at any time in their history. So yeah I'd say they have a staffing crisis created by no support just like all other law enforcement in this state. What tax payers are NOT being told is due to staff shortages all law enforcement and first responders are doing mandatory overtime hours that have never been this high before and tax payers are paying for it all. So the defunding has actually back fired for "progressive" politicians. But of course they'll never tell you that little nugget of truth.
