One of two people with life-threatening injuries rescued from an Edmonds house fire Friday afternoon has died.

A little after 6 p.m. a 911 caller reported smoke coming from the home north of Ballinger Park and sounds of a baby crying inside as well.

Six minutes later, firefighters began to arrive. According to South County Fire, the response included nearly 40 firefighters. Crews were able to quickly locate a man and woman inside the home, likely due to the significant response.

Both patients were taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The man died from his injuries at the hospital.
