A woman speeding on an e-scooter crashed into a 65-year-old man on a California sidewalk. Donny Kim had just finished dinner with his wife when he stepped onto the sidewalk. Out of nowhere, the e-scooter slammed right into him. Kim fell to the ground and slammed his head on the concrete. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and died at the hospital. The woman riding the e-scooter fled the scene. Now, cops are on the hunt for the woman.

It's a problem here in Chicago too, mfs riding bikes and scooters on sidewalks and they don't even excuse me so the pedestrians can move out of the way. Just selfish!

This is why in the UK it is ILLEGAL to ride an e-scooter unless it's on private land – what she did was illegal unless its okay in America? it's too dangerous to be allowed, they need to ban it.

This is so sad. That man just got done having a lovely lunch with his wife and then gets killed just like that. Gone in a blink of an eye. I can't imagine what his wife must be going through. To have lunch with your loved one one minute and the next gone. RIP to the guy and my condolonces to his wife, family, and friends. What a sad day for that family. I hope they find this woman soon and lock her away.

They're right. There should be laws against scooters on sidewalks. It's fine when they drive side by side with bicycles on the bike lane, but should not be side by side with pedestrians because pedestrians can't see the scooter coming from behind them.
