Man dead, his wife uninjured after standoff at home in Peoria

A standoff situation at a townhouse in Peoria Wednesday morning ended with a man’s death, police say.

Around 7 a.m., Peoria police and firefighters were dispatched to a residence at the Brookside Gardens at Westbrook Village on 92nd Drive, in the area of 91st Avenue and Union Hills Drive. Police confirmed there was a domestic violence situation between a man and woman inside the home and that shots had been fired. She escaped unharmed and told responding officers that her husband was still inside and armed.

A perimeter was then set up around the home as officers continued to communicate with the suspect for several hours, police said. Officers from Peoria PD’s Special Assignments Unit (SAU) also responded. During that time, the man reportedly set several fires, and additional firefighters were called due to visible smoke coming through doors and windows.

A tactical team eventually forced themselves into the garage, where they found the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police have not released his identity but say he was 60 years old and lived in Glendale.

  1. That looks scary but wait one day in the future let's hope that if you don't pay your parking tickets the local government won't use this method to collect their fines. Oh its coming but at my age I won't have to put up with this shitz you will.

  2. “Women uninjured” I don’t get the point of that headline, if she’s uninjured what’s the point of including that? The dog, the unit, the cameraman also uninjured but we didn’t need that info because it’s not relative, wtf kind of journalism is this?
