MalloryBrosPodcast | 121 | "October's Very Own"

On this episode of the MalloryBros. Podcast, the bros start with a recap of their movie experiences this past weekend and talk a little more in depth about the movie “SMILE”. Terrance speaks more to productivity and how to look at being more productive. The guys then jump into their thoughts about Will Smith’s new film “Emancipation” and the response to another Slave film. This leads to a conversation about the Black Panther trailer that dropped. The guys speak to expectations and look into the “how” behind Tchalla’s death and how children look at Superheroes. This conversation was followed by a conversation about Kanye’s “White Live’s Matter” shirt and how to look at Kanye West to go forward. They give a little game for the fellas for how to handle the Halloween season with your girl and more! There’s a baby tech corner, movie suggestions of the week, and NFL Picks for Week 5!

  1. Kanye used to say right shit the wrong way ie the slavery is a choice thing but this just really came off wrong. I think two things. 1 there’s a school of thought that thinks art is supposed to be provocative. 2 I think Kanye knows exactly what he is doing by wording things the way he does people point out that he has a black panther father and English professor mother and question how he can say shit like this but all that tells me is that he has the message but rather than present it clearly he much rather burry it in controversy because he values being provocative and antagonistic.

  2. Tbh i dont support people supporting “White Lives Matter” but if you dont support “Black Lives Matter” I’m cool with that too. The people who started that are thieves and corrupt. I know you saw that video the BLM founders put out months ago.

  3. I agree with Terrell. Every superhero has multiple actors and multiple movies. That’s the beauty of those movies, with each movie there’s a totally different feel or different vibe based on how the actor portrays the character. It would be nice to give someone else that opportunity.

  4. i see where y’all are coming from on the Black Panther topic but y’all can’t be too mad at Shuri becoming the Black Panther when it’s in the comics. i’d suggest looking into the source material when it comes to criticizing superhero movies.

maybe it’s just me but i see no problem with little black girls having a black woman take on a big superhero role to have that to look forward to.

  5. We gonna forget Ye donated $2 million to pay for George Floyd’s daughter’s college tuition? And he was out there for a protest? Not even riding Ye but the association to protesting and social media presence will be our downfall.

  7. To be fair with the Black Panther topic, although it’s looking like we’re gonna lose T-Challa too, we still have M’Baku as a strong male character. He just isn’t Black Panther 🤷🏾‍♀️

  8. Also, y’all not lying about black actors/actresses being seen as taking their real life and putting it into film. Cuz how people treated J. Alphonse from P Valley (Lil Murda) vs. how people have been treating Evan Peters for playing Jeffrey Dahmer is a night & day difference

  9. I think the Ye thing went over a lot of ppls heads. The white lives matter was to show that it’s OBVIOUS white lives matter and Ye and his dad found the shirt humorous. I think he was stirring up the pot I don’t think he was “ruckusing” he explains it in the interview
