My top bug tip for the real hard ones is just to line yourself up in its direction of travel and sit with the net. If you don't move, the awareness goes up much slower. It will quite literally fly right in to your net.

I have successfully used the dash method of bug catching when hunting those very shy, swift and rare bugs. Especially useful when I couldn't sneak close enough to net them before they became aware and fled… Also, I have noted that the angle of the net can be a little wonky, I've gotten very close to a bug, without the green indicator flashing. If that happens, I turn slowly back and forth to see if I just don't have the angle right, and sometimes it helps.

That silver koi is so hard, I've caught plenty of normal and copper ones but I haven't managed a silver or higher yet. Also you can buy the old bait from the beach shack too
