Major Severe Weather Outbreak Increasingly Likely for St.Louis and Columbia

From the National Weather Service: Thunderstorms are expected to develop over central and southwest Missouri along a cold front this evening. The storms will move across the area into east central Missouri and southwest Illinois tonight. Some storms could be severe, and produce 1 inch diameter or larger hail, isolated damaging wind gusts, and perhaps a brief tornado. Severe thunderstorms are possible through midweek. The most likely times for severe storms are during the day on Monday, and again Tuesday night through Wednesday. The forecast remains somewhat uncertain in some respects, and each round of storms is dependent on how the previous round changes the environment. Changes and refinements to timing and threats are likely. Current indications are that the most likely period for strong to severe thunderstorms will be Wednesday. All thunderstorm hazards will be possible on Wednesday including damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes. The afternoon and evening will be the most likely time for severe storms on Wednesday. The forecast is still uncertain, and depends heavily on how each round of thunderstorms changes the environment preceding the next. Changes and refinements to the forecast are likely.
