BOUNTIFUL, Utah (KUTV) — A quiet neighborhood in Bountiful avoided disaster when a potentially deadly gas leak was discovered, thanks to a mailman’s quick thinking.
The odor of natural gas can dissipate as it moves through the ground, making leaks harder to detect. That was the case for homeowner Karyn Baxter, who smelled something unusual in her basement but said it didn’t smell like gas and didn’t think it was dangerous.
“I heard a knock on the door, and there were a bunch of firemen standing there,” Baxter said.
