I loved the I Spy books when I was a kid, I can't believe I never looked into them more as an adult. I loved how complex the scenes were, and how cleverly they used all the regular household items and ordinary objects to make completely un-ordinary things. I vividly remember an alien planet scene that had a metal steaming-colander thing that was the same as one my mom had in the kitchen, and kid-me getting excited when I noticed it and pointing it out to her.
As a photography nerd myself, I'm curious: what's your go to DSLR?
Also, if you don't mind my asking: Are those 'small apartment' or RV sized dishwashers that run between $250-500 worth the investment?
