Pests are flooding the boxes with bodily fluids, water, tossing in flaming items, breaking the backs off and just plain destroying them. Why spend $$ with this when the USPS can't even protect the blue boxes on their own property?
Government hates vigilantism, but they encourage it by not punishing criminals. Even though they don't have a lot, sue the b*stards and take their cars (which should have been seized via asset forfeiture) and any money they ever earn.
