Seemed pretty weak and barely lasted a couple of seconds. Guessing that area isn't use to earthquakes?
We've had 2 earthquakes above 1.5 today already here in western washington. In fact we've had 9 earthquakes in the past 4 days between 1.5 and 2.8 magnitude. I sleep through most of the bigger ones above 3 or 4. Last one I remember was in 2001'ish that was about 6.9, that one you could really feel.

A 2.5 to 5.4 earthquake is a minor quake which causes no damage. So this is a non story . New York is just trying to get some sympathy after years of bad reports on the state of New York

Hi! I am a student from PS 277 in Brooklyn and we felt it too the person across my table known as Santino his watch started to send out a EAS alarm and everyone started panicking or making jokes about it for some reason and the alarm also went off on my teachers phone and 10 minutes later we were at the cafeteria and my friend Santino again his watch started going off again! And it said it was magnitude 4.8 and my friend Richard on the other hand which is the smartest kid in my class 202 he started making jokes about it, and he didn’t know it was serious One thing he said was “ What if the table started flying like Harry Potter” that was a joke I recalled and then seconds later, the table started shaking a little and when I looked around no one was kicking the table and I knew it was serious oh yeah, and my name is Cyrus tam right before the incident I remember that we were in the middle of the afternoon that’s all I remember.
Same thing my teacher was talking about earthquakes and the hang light started shaking a couple of minutes after

I know that some people are not as scared because this is the first time they have experienced an earthquake, but let me tell you that growing up in Colombia where strong earthquakes hit all the time this is something to take seriously. Also the aftershocks could last for days
