Lynx Air, a Calgary-based airline that launched less than two years ago with a promise to make air travel more affordable, says it will cease operations on Monday. It has obtained an initial order for creditor protection from the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta.

Good riddance. I flew Lynx in JAN and it was awful. I could go on and on with all the problems. I would never fly Lynx again…
We've seen this happen many times before, always with these "discount airlines".
Yes, flying people around in planes is an expensive business.
No, people don't like paying a lot to fly in these planes.

It’s deplorable that these companies can pull this to ticket holders and not be held responsible. There needs to be far stricter bankruptcy rules that prevent them from being able to leave the customer holding the bag.

“The breaking point of being broke”
Airline business always fail in Canada due to govt regulation. Only air line that can survive is Air Canada bcus it is funded by big brother. Likewise for all crown corporation.
I knew it right from the beginning of this airline that it would abruptly close down. The reasons are as below :😂
1. The low cost Carrier!
2. The highly incapable staff to manage the flights in all areas of operations.
I can't understand how a low cost airline can afford to pay the airport fees; the fuel charges; handling agent charges; and navigational charges??? This is somebody's magnificent idea to start such an airline!!!
Maybe this was in the plan from the beginning, think about that. Management made the profits and boom time to call for bankruptcy
Lynx blames everyone but themselves. It was an insane business plan. They lost $180m operating an average of 4 aircraft in 2022 and 7 in 2023.
Flair has the identical business plan and operate 18 aircraft.
Flair had 4 aircraft seized in 2023 and owe $67m ++ in unpaid taxes.
It’s just a matter of time.

Socialism just does not work without ample innovation that pumps money into the economy. When will the powers to be realise that you cannot tax the rich to feed the poor forever?
The government gives billions of dollars to foreign countries but can’t come to some agreement with this company to keep it going for a couple of years to refinance maybe on an interest free loan.
With the surge in post-plandemic demand for travel there is obviously more to this story.
How about a low-cost carrier that decides to operate within Canada and not sunny southern destinations. People would support the competition from the likes of Air Canada and WestJet domestically. There’s not a lot of Canadians. That would have the disposable income to travel south anyway. More choice within our boundaries would make a better market. This airline was just chasing the gold. Not hard to see why it failed.
