Luxtorpeda is a banger of an app. It makes quick work out of native Linux gaming for Steam games that don’t ship a Linux binary. It’s a perfect companion for the Steam Deck and it doesn’t get enough love. Here’s how it works and how to use it.

I presume Luxtorpeda runs in rails?
Damn now I'm going to need to get ahold of that experimental 2TB ssd by micron. This 512GB is holding back my dream of having my retro library on the go.
Sweet a tool to not just getting games running on my FOSS OS but getting them to run with FOSS engines! That's awesome!
Did somebody say Sim Copter? Apparently not 😆
cool
Thank you for this post. It supports Descent2's dxx-rebirth source project! Installing this immediately on the Deck.
Neat. I'm gonna install that just because
Love the video thanks for making it….
Thanks for bringing this up, I had no idea what luxtorpeda was and this gets jedi knight 2 running great on deck with a community controller setup.
I need to try this cuz Kotor is kinda a pain to get running well in Linux.
torpeda means torpedo, and lux stands for luxury I guess.
Not sure why my comment was the one targeted by the telegram scammers ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ§€
I got video idea for you which is better to SteamDeck LINUS or SteamDeck WINDOWS 🤔
Luxtorpeda is not on my list of compatibility options, I'm only seeing Proton options. Correction! I watched towards the end of your video and indeed you do state the installation directions. Thanks
How feasible is it to connect an external DVD drive to install older games to play? I'm thinking of Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 with the latest patches to remove the need for the disc to play. I already own them physically and don't want to give Activision any more of my money.
Strongbad impression is on point.
Ion Fury seems to be working just fine straight out of the box on my Linux Mint gaming pc; are there any additional benefits Luxtorpeda would bring if the game is already working?
excellent video. love all of your videos. I've had my Steam Deck since the 1st wave, i honestly haven't tried most of the things you have shared. (basically because i am terrified to mess things up) . Keep it up. Thanks for everything you do!
Thanks Gardiner. I was actually thinking about this tool a few days ago and I couldn't remember what the tool name was.
Was getting a headache about installing patch 469 for Unreal Tournament 1999, guess this just does that for me? Lovely.
I installed this without even knowing what it was beyond a compatibility tool lol. Thanks for this overview!
Hey any chance you could turn the blue light pointed at you’s color temp down? Make it more orange. Also maybe remove the glass/plexi from the framed posters behind you. It would cut the distracting reflections.
This gives me flashbacks from UT99's linux binaries never released on steam.
This is a wonderful idea! never heard about Luxtorpeda before but i'll definitely be checking it out for supported games I own. Before this I was manually building GZDoom launchers in Steam for Brutal Doom and stuff.
I wonder if it's more "lux-torpeda" like torpedo rather than the way we've been pronouncing it so far?
won't install engines because its write protected..how to fix this???
Thanks for the video! I maintain luxtorpeda-dev so always enjoy seeing people enjoy it!
The fact you threw a homestar runner reference in there made my day!
