  1. Interesting, John Wayne indeed wore a black or dark brown hat in his classic western movie The Searchers from 1956.
    His character is not the hero in that one, he’s ambivalent in his approach to the situation with the taking of his young niece by the natives (formerly known as Indians) and he’s failing until the very end when he finally comes to terms.

  2. Luke's attire tells a story throughout the Trilogy, going from white to beige to black, foreshadowing a potential turn to the dark side like his father before him. The redemption comes at the end of ROTJ when the front flap of his tunic opens to reveal what we knew in our hearts: Luke had the light inside him the whole time.

  3. Luke putting on the classic Jedi robes to properly end the order made me flash back to Lt. Col. Markinson putting on his dress blues before his end in A Few Good Men.
