LUCAS RAYMOND ARRIVES – Winged Wheel Podcast – Oct. 30th, 2022

With another massively successful WWP Night @ the LCA (in partnership with the Detroit Red Wings) on the books, the guys are still in the studio to talk all things Red Wings hockey, the NHL, & more.

Tune in as we start with a full breakdown on the decision to suspend Michael Rasmussen 2 games after hitting Krejci in the head with his stick, how comparable it was to the Kuznetsov suspension, whether it was fair & warranted, & more (4:58).

We also recap Detroit’s big win over Minnesota, including Lucas Raymond breaking through for 2 goals, Husso’s big game and emerging presence as Detroit’s starting goalie over Nedeljkovic (so far), Erne, Kubalik & Larkin chipping in, & more (12:29). Additionally, we take a look at Detroit’s loss to Boston, place in the standings, how long they have to “settle in” with Lalonde’s new systems & Yzerman’s new players, how much of a priority Seider & Raymond’s progress is, the impact of missing Bertuzzi & Vrana, & whether we expect Detroit to remain in a playoff spot (24:55).

Finally, we take a look at standings & storylines across the NHL (42:50) before recapping WWP Night & taking questions – tune in to enjoy all of that & more (and thanks for bearing with us as we recover)! #LGRW

feedback for the next time: IDK how possible this is, but if you guys could do like a panel setup with a table on a stage so shorter people like myself can see your beautful faces

  3. Guys, it's pretty simple. Other than the universal "star player treatment", there is no precedent when it comes to the NHL. They are incredibly inconsistent with the way they treat incidents. "setting a precedent" would have been when they handed Kuzy a 1 game suspension for swinging at a guy. They then decided to double that for a hit follow through with careless stick handling. If Luff decides to pull a kuzy and swing at a guy he's getting 10 games. Another year of awful Player Safety decisions.

  4. Not to excuse everything bad as being caused by injuries, and the analysis is correct for the roster taking the ice … but I feel like the conversations would be a lot different with our full complement of offensive firepower… This isn't who we are, we're the team that has Erne and Kubalik in the bottom 6 and Zadina scratched because usually there's a missing ~70 goals of production up in that top 6, but we only got to see 2 games of it

  5. Like Mickey said… if the Wings can keep doing what they are doing until December… we get Fabbri and Bertuzzi and hopefully Vrana back… that should be a huge boost to keep us at this level and probably better for a playoff push… most critical time is now to December…
