  1. The first ejection shown here was from a Gloster Meteor, one of the first jets and the first on the Allied side to see service. It is still flying today as it is used by Martin Baker to test their ejection seat.

  3. I know of two survival injections from an OV-10 on the runway. One was when the pilot blew a tire on takeoff and was heading towards a radar reflector. The other was when the safety pin got threaded through the effection handle between the legs when he held up the pin showing the safety pins have been removed it pulled the D handle. Saw one film of a very brave guy ejecting from a test airplane upside down 500 ft above the ground, he survived. Since people usually get reduced in height a quarter inch after each injection, I really hope he got a good retirement bonus because I believe he would have serious back problems within a year or two.

  4. Russia has mastered in 00 ejection!!
But Martin Baker has significantly invested, researched & developed advanced ejection seat & hence's more reliable & comparatively cheap!!
Many new Fighter jets including Tejas Mk1a,Tejas Mk2,Jf-17 has Martin baker's ejection seat but I'm damn impressed by the 036 seat which's used in the F-35s…

  6. It’s trivial to eject lower than -15 feet.

Just as an example, the Allenby Bridge (Jordan/West Bank) is the lowest fixed water crossing in the world … just north of the Dead Sea in the Jordan Valley.

The bridge is 1,250 feet (~380m) below mean sea level. Just fly past at 500 feet and eject — you’ll be ejecting at -750 feet.
