‘Low speed and high drag’: Andrew Hastie slams Richard Marles

Shadow Defence Minister Andrew Hastie has slammed Defence Minister Richard Marles for being “low speed and high drag” and says he has to “up his game”.

Richard Marles says his department still has a ‘way to go’ before it achieves excellence.

Tensions between Mr Marles and the Department of Defence were revealed yesterday during Question Time after the Opposition called for him to lift his game.

“He’s got a problem, and it seems like he’s also exercising his right to disconnect because he’s got a massive pile of paperwork on his desk that needs actioning, and one of the issues in Defence is that he’s not moving fast enough,” Mr Hastie told Sky News Australia.

“He’s got to up his game.

“Richard Marles himself, in October of 2022, said the buck stopped with him as the Minister for Defence.

“It is my belief that the speed of the boss is the speed of the team, and Richard Marles is low speed and high drag, and that’s why we’re hearing whispers out of the Defence Department.”

  1. Rheinmetall had a factory built in Ipswich Queensland. That was already producing Infantry fighting vehicles – now for many years. And is a world leading facility. And Males first job as defense minister – was to make sure the Rheinmetall – Lynx IFV did not get accepted.

And that the South Korean IFV – Redback would be the vehicle for that job. What the left wing lying media failed to tell you was.

The Huntsman – K9 mobile artillery system will be made at – Geelong. Guess who's electorate that is.

Minuscule military – golf clubs marles – electorate.

As Gomer Pyle would say – Surprise – Surprise – Surprise.

  2. Oh his inbox is full …what a disaster. Nobody any politician has the guts to take defence by the balls and turn it into a defence department. The only shit Australia is interested in is war mongering and we have been doing just that all the way back to south Africa.

  3. Maybe China would stop bullying Australia if our defence wasn’t in such an irresponsible mess? Who could’ve guessed that the people who hate Australia, as they demonstrate by their loud disloyalty every Australia Day, have no interest in defending it.

  4. My Opinion – Defence needs to understand they are spending the taxpayer’s money – we would appreciate some frugality on their part!

Peter Reith (LNP) once commented on the ABC "The Drum" that Stephen Smith (Lab.) was doing a good job at getting Defence under control – because he (Peter Reith) had never managed to curb the cost blow outs. It seems that Defence do not know how to be careful with the taxpayer’s money and when they are told to do so – Defence throws an almighty tantrum!

War is very expensive – peace is a whole lot cheaper!

  7. This is what happens when a failed lawyer, come Unionist, goes into politics… It proves to everyone that living off Union members money and being a defence minister are both far apart from each other.. That's why we see the real Marles as the clueless twit he always has been..
