This will be the last season of Love Island I watch. People say this is the best season since season 5 and I don't think it's a coincidence that it is one of the most diverse seasons. While I agree with your points about the British public, I have more of a problem with ITV and the LI producers. The end results helped me see how they use both the Black contestants and viewers for entertainment and social media buzz with no reward. I'm tired of it and I'm out.
Blame people like topical juice who built up Toxic Ty and split the vote.
Whitney showed that she thinks like you guys. You were trying to say that Ty and Ella was jealous of Whitney when had envy for them the entire time with plenty of evidence all the way until the end. When they were picking who to dump. Ty and Ella backed all the couples with nothing but positive things to say. She threw jabs at TY and Ella and then her and Lochen tried to shade them during their final declarations and even on the stage before voting.

I stopped watching the show once I saw the UK turn their back on Catherine because she chose a brotha over their white savior (we don't do that over here).

Not trying to to body shame but did Jess gain a lot of weight on the show or is it just me ? I remember in the final weeks she would cover her tummy when she sat down . Same said he likes athletic girls and I think she knows .
They would not allow Whitney to win. The desired winner for Love Island is white and blonde. They put a target on her back by revealing she was favourite and Mitch's exit speech was a signal to his supporters to vote for Jess!

π€΄π½πΈπΏ To be brutally honest, I fast forwarded at least 60% of the finale. The 40% was whit & Lochan & that's what I watched. When I saw the ending, I gasped & clutched my pearls. This UK internalised rac*sm is very "STRONG"(In my Naija Auntie's voice). It even took Jess awhile to believe she won, bse her reaction was giving π Sammy is a player & she just hang on for the finale (even tho she still likes him, both statements can still be true at the same time).
I know the public vote is equally important, but let's not undermine the fact that the smug comment was a set up. The producers literally could've chosen not to show that. Just like Cat's out bast with "provoking Scott", becoz they seem to forget that such "drama" coming from us on such a show inspires hate instead of fame.
The fact that Molly & Zach were given more airtime after Casa than Cat & Elom still confuses me. And yet Molly didn't even curse him out like we hoped lord have mercyπ.
Final thought!…. Just for the numerous punchlines alone that Whit gave us in the show, that the producers are marketing off of, she deserved to win. The bonus is of course finding a man like Lochan, who encourages her to be herself always.

It's my first time watching a season of love island. I'm from South Africa and I really didn't know racism was a thing in London until watching this season and reading tweets about love island
Now you see why Whitney made took that smug comment as a bigger deal than people thought it should have been especially from Ella. Because not one person ever said anything like that about Whit and it was smooth sailing till they planted that narrative after the votes. No one even gave a good explanation for voting then as that but now you can see how thatβs the one excuse people used to avoid voting for her. Just a bunch of crap.

I love you ladies and will miss your reviews! Black people do need to stay on code and unfortunately yesterday's results were a classic example of this. I was so shocked and annoyed! I didn't even sleep well because of the results π I just couldn't understand how Jess and bean head won, it's wild to me! Even my boyfriend who doesn't watch it was so sure Whitney would win! It would have been such an iconic moment for all people of colour. I promised myself after season 4 with Samira Mighty that I would never watch Love Island again because her story really upset me and I hated the way black women were seen as less in comparison to their white counterparts! This season was great but again it highlights the systematic racism and how much more harder we have to work. It is draining and I respect you ladies so much for speaking the truth! Especially on issues that people are too scared to speak about. I have to be honest, yesterday I officially retired from Love Island. It's so disappointing but I'm sure our girl Whitney will smash it! β€
