  4. I get excited every spring, it just amazes me that it never gets old. Thanks for getting me started and I love the idea of using a yard umbrella to shield the plants from too much rain. Great tips. I have started lettuces in my unheated greenhouse and just put in some snap peas. In my outdoor garden I created raised beds and pathways so that will be an interesting experiment to start growing in as the weather warms. Happy Spring!

  5. SoCal weather can be such a hodgepodge. Dry, windy, and sunny summers; and very wet, chilly, and muggy winters. Terra cotta pots and light and airy potting mixes during the winters may be good, but summers will make you regret everything. Self-watering containers are amazing during the summer, but winter will keep the roots too wet and too cold.

  7. Hi …this is my 2nd year gardening. I had planted some tomatoes, eggplant, okra, green beans, Basil, Thyme and some cut flowers. This year, I will plant the same thing plus Bell Peppers, hot peppers, Zuchinni, yellow squash, Cucumber, bitter melon and long yard beans. I am excited the most are the bitter melon and and long yard beans. I will have the long yard beans on an arch trellis on my walk way and the beans will just dangling down and it will look nice and easy to harvest.

  8. New to gardening. I started with just a few last year, but it did so well I'm spreading out. I use raised beds, mostly fabric grow bags. I'm doing well & look forward to expanding my garden this year. I'm excited to try peppers and beans this year. Not sure what else, but I have 5 empty grow bags to fill. Thanks for all the tips & tricks you share. It makes my gardening journey a lot easier.

  9. When I do for soggy soil 🌨️ I like raised beds, and I mix fine sand in the the beds. It seems to help. For my containers I put a layer of pebbles, then fill the container up with the soil. Also have a lot of drain holes in the bottom of the containers. That helps a little bit. Since I’ve been watching your video and following you this year, I will switch to fabric parts. I will also putting a couple of boards underneath the fabric containers this year😊 by switching to fabric containers I don’t need to put pebbles on the bottom. It should have enough airflow and drainage through the fabric. Also, I like the idea that I can move the containers to a dryer area if it gets too wet. Can’t wait to switch to the fabric containers Thanks for your videos.

  12. Thanks for the helpful info! Our rainy season usually comes a little later in the year, but I'll be bookmarking this video for ideas when we get our daily downpours. My pepper and eggplant seedlings look fantastic (if I do say so myself). Excited to get those in the ground in a few more weeks. Also adding several varieties of tomatoes and squash that I look forward to trying out in the kitchen 🙂 First year growing Tiny Tim tomatoes from your container seed collection!! Wish me luck
