The whole topic surrounding the engraving Grudge is running hot in the western Lost Ark community. While Grudge is a really good engraving, in this video I’m taking a deeper dive, explaining why it is so good and explaining why you should look into running it.

In 8 players group where 6 dps run grudge and there are 2 supports, the 6x dps in total would deal 24% more damage as a group with crit/spec stacking included compared to conditional or other damage engravings. This makes you finish raids faster or even skip combat phases directly onto just wipe out/huge damage mechanics knowledge test.

  2. IMO grudge is bad as long as there is a somewhat useful alternative. What I mean by that is, I can run a shadowhunter with demonic impulse, adrenaline, hit master, raid captain, maybe even keen blunt and those would be pretty good with no negative.

    To some point I'd even argue that disrespect is worth using over grudge, assuming the enemy is going to die at a linear rate (which is not accurate but not very inaccurate either) we can get a 30% uptime out of 100 for disrespect, that means it converts to an average 10.8% extra damage, while grudge is 20 but with a negative – half the effect with no extra damage.

    Same thing goes to cursed doll.

    I've seen people dying for guardian raids because they are taking a lot of damage, not because they are missing a wipe mechanic of anything, but because they step on AoE areas and take charge attacks… those people can't run grudge, they will end up dead even faster.

    IMO people should make support jobs easier and understand that lost ark is not a DPS run game, it has stagger mechanics that are a run, but it's not DPS based, it has break runs (weak point) but they also aren't damage based. The only DPS run mechanic is boss going berserk due to taking too long in the timer under their health and it pretty much never happens. This is why going less damage more survivability is better.

    Just to close this with another example, I love time to hunt gunslingers way more than pure peacemaker, they do less damage, but they play it a lot safer and you can still do all the content with them.

Ppl die because they are bad not because they run grudge + They refuses to use higher grade pots or battle items such as panacea to clense dot or invuln potion and they also allow unoptimized healer that choose to run heavy armor instead of expert, awakening or class engraving to join their party.
    For now ppl are gonna be okay with not taking grudge but thats because they havent met a real dps check yet. Watch how they all switch their mentality when they cant kill valtan and every party will gatekeep non grudge users. Same goes for ppl running heavy armor too btw.

  4. I love to use grudge but the only thing as a F2P is it's very expensive engrave as in accessories . For me i dont want to waste a lot of gold on legendary accessories. Every grudge and class engraving is for a whale right now, maybe it cheaper after 2-3 month. For me argos is very hard because i got a bad engraving:C

  6. I think it’s the fact the most veterans were just advising run “grudge or cursed doll” without much context. No one even bothers to explain any other engravings that isn’t class engraving ls as well.

  7. Here I am at 1355 only having barricade 3 and combat readiness 1 :') Is it me or do I need to wait for 1370 when it gets easier to stack multiple engravings. Cause of the class specific engraving accessories that drop.

  8. Good video. I’m waiting on grudge since I don’t do well in the market yet and rng gods haven’t gifted me a 40k piece or I didn’t realize the piece was good and recycled it lol. I have to make a sheet of all the stats everyone is looking for but that will take time reading/finding builds for every class. Google searches for a good list has been unfruitful so far…

  9. With the content we have now there are two ways to fail. Number one you take to much damage and die. Number two people mess up mechanics and you die. There are no real DPS checks. Focusing entirely on damage when you don't understand mechanics and are getting hit a lot is a mistake. You do zero damage while dead and forcing your team to carry you. Grudge is the best when you are comfortable with content and one of the worst if you are bad at it. Start by playing 20% better and work toward grudge after that. People barely making it through as it is.

  10. If you wont get hit even lvl1 is good. If you will get hit any lvl is bad.
    After all staying alive is way more importand then doing more dmg at any point.
    so many words but no explanation why would grudge be MANDATORY later down the road ?

You are making huge presumptions that grudge will be necessary for every class in 3333 or 33333(1) builds to clear all the content especially since essentially every fight is more or less nerf'd (and/or likely to be nerfed) in EU/NA. Who even knows if Grudge will be at it's current form once EU/NA actually gets to harder content 'requiring' grudge. Grudge is far from mandatory at any point in the game but it's a great option to increase your damage and often considered 'the best' engraving in the game for DPS ("LFG-requirement"). Other than that, an informative vidya about grudge o/

  12. If you die with grudge, you're going to die without grudge. Just with grudge you do 20% more damage. And people wonder why guardian raid takes so long. It's because people don't build properly.

  13. "You can only do damage when you are alive" pretty sum up how to use Grudge. There's a reason why Grudge is consider as the advance engraving.
    Know your character, know the boss mechanics and know your teammate's character before using Grudge.

  14. The reason why I don't use Grudge or any dmg engravings is because I find it/them boring, almost every other engraving seems more fun and impactful, like you can feel it.
    *Class Engraving = Totally changes or shapes your playstyle in a lot of cases.
    *Spirit Absorption = You can feel your character moving faster and attacking faster and all the skill animations coming out faster and makes it easier to counter Guardians by not being animation locked all the time, also is a DPS increase in the sense that you don't need to hold your skills so much in case the Guardian gets into a countereable position, you can just throw your skills and since the animations ends quicker you have enough time to throw a skill, Guardian shines blue in the middle of it and then mash your counter skills and still get it on time, also off-combat I find the normal movement speed in this game really slow, like in Islands and dungeons, Spirit Absorption helps with that, especially with sorc + the water bubble with the 10% Mov Speed Tripod = Free 25% Mov Speed increase yay for that.
    *Super Charge = 40% less animation for charge skills, enough said.
    *Crisis Evasion = Avoid dying once per run, amazing.
    *Preemptive Strike = Amazing for Chaos Dungeons, and cubes, if you're the first to hit a mob they just insta die lol
    *Awakening = You can use your Awakening skill twice as often and twice as much, yay.
    *Vital Point Strike = Stagger for days.
    *Precise Dagger = Your crit goes up a lot and if you build crit in your gear you stop seeing white numbers for the most part lol.
    *Support Engravings in general = Feels a lot more impactful, I guess I should just play support right? lol
    With dmg engravings yeah I do 15/20% more dmg but I wouldn't even know I'm doing more dmg unless I'm in practice mode with the DPS meter function activated, and with the lack of boss HP bars you're just in the blind about how much dmg is the boss actually taking, you don't even know ppl are doing dmg until the boss suddenly dies or your party wipes. And to top it all off in the end screen for some reason sometimes it shows the support as the MVP and then you're 100% left in the dark about who did dmg and who didn't, when the fight lasts 10 mins instead of 7 mins who knows who did and didn't do dmg in that case.

  15. I find grudge to be hard to use specifically because I am playing from SEA with 200-220ping. Dodging boss skill shots is already a pain in the ass and getting clipped by shit because of my ping makes grudge even more punishing

  17. I keep hearing you guys say verbatim "You will be forced to use grudge because at some point there will be nothing else that increases your damage." Well you see, so far there's almost 0 dps checks. The dps checks are not tight. This game is SO forgiving with enrage timers and dps checks and stagger checks.

    From what i've seen, people just dont use skills because they're afraid to get hit and die. I just tell people to run heavy armour. Oh no boo hoo you lose 15% damage, who gives a fuck when your uptime is 30% and going heavy armour makes it 70-80%? No brainer to me.

  18. I will run grudge once legion raids come out and I have learned the mechanics and attack windows. I learn these mechanics better the longer I am in the fight. Also there are people who simply aren't very good and dodging for whatever reason. These people should not run grudge and would be a better off running defensive engraving 20% more dmg means nothing if their dead. Casuals should not be advised to run Grudge in my opinions and their will ALWAYS be causal players.

  19. Engravings on my opinion is not the biggest problem currently.
    i currently suffer on random people (matchmaking or group finder) cause they just not interested to actually do the mechanics which does lead in frustration sometimes, i hang in guardian raids for 30min for just 1 run cause people dont care of mechs and just try to face tank all, then they die and the only one that can carry is the person actualy aware that the boss attacks have to be respected and taking care of… i hope when all my alts are in t3 its going better but i doubt it..

Im running keenblunt cursed doll on my 1366 gunslinger, can't bring myself to dump gold on purples, I have grudge and hit master learned to level 9 to start 1370 where I'd try to snipe a stone to 6×6, then just wear the crit accessories with a crit swift neck not minding the engravings on them for a bit, unless I can play the AH right and snag some other engraves, hopefully some level 1 peacemaker and some attack speed maybe thru spirit absorb. Just the plan I have in my head at first glance

  21. As soon as I entered T3 I went Grudge. But as a new and inexperienced player I quickly discovered my skill is insufficient to run it, I was a floormat frequently especially in Guardian Raids. As a Sorc I pretty much get 1 shotted with Grudge or barely survive. Switched over to Cursed Doll and Im having a much better time. Grudge is something I plan to run, but later down the road when I become better at the game. The 4% damage loss compared to Grudge seems pretty insignificant at this point for me, but will probably be a lot more important later on. Once I become decent and see that Im not taking unnecessary damage and/or dying from stupid mistakes and Im consistent at it, I'll switch over, but until then Cursed Doll is my best friend.
