Lost Ark is an incredible game, but it’s not perfect. In this video Codiak shares 10 things he’d change about the game, tweaks that would make the experience better, and overhauls that would transform the experience for players across the board. Whether it’s gathering, crafting, or taking on abyssal dungeons everything could use some adjustments, but remember, this is all subjective.

  1. and i hope the will work on the Life skill system aswell because for like 24 hours only like 4-5k Energy seems a little bit less
(normaly i like Farming but they dont give me rly a chance to do it)

  2. You're pointing out some very real flaws about the game, lately though i've been thinking this more and more: nowadays games aren't made by a developer but more by people going on social media and starting to pepega aim at everything they personally dislike about a game and demanding change. While this obviously is a good thing in many cases and leads to changes for the better of a game, recently it's been getting on my nerves. Just like alot of people now basically demand a honing buff in T3; i haven't heard official news about that at all but now Reddit and other sources are pretty much 'manifesting' change because they are frustrated. All while completely ignoring that any buff only means diminishing returns are delayed by a couple houndred gearscore, making it irrelevant later on. Stuff like that is like asking for leveling to be easier, you just end up with a higher number sooner which devalues the number itself. Same thing with oneshot mechanics, it may be frustrating to some but its more a playstyle choice than anything else and this is the type of gameplay the developer was going for as it seems. We went from: "I don't like the game i'll play smth else" to "I don't like the game please change the game"

  3. My main issue is the UE3 of the game is running needs more optimization to it. I have a 3080Ti with i7 9700k on an m.2 ssd, my ssd loads in too fast resulting in the game textures barely popping in and trying to load slower making the game extremely stuttering whenever I change into another zone

  4. Sorry you aren’t enjoying but this game is truly a breath of fresh air. Boss fights are great. One shots are fine. I’d agree with you about guild size. Stealth missions are fine, can’t plow through everything.

  5. RE: Damage Meters … Personally, I wouldn't want them in Lost Ark, not because I don't like damage meters, I do and I use them in other games, but I think there would be so much negativity around their introduction, that it would change the dynamic of the game for the worse. That said, you're absolutely right, in progression group content that's as challenging as T3 raids, information is key, and there definitely needs to be more it. People who are engaging in that level content WANT to be there, they want to learn and get better. They are willing to put in the investment. The game should give them some tools to analyze their performance. A system I think would work would be something like the MVP screen, but just less flashy and a little more detail. Either that, show a private performance summary after the match only you can see.

  6. 😑😑😑It just came out a month ago. What's funny is they're already coming out with new things you mentioned here, tomorrow. I think the guild issue is the biggest problem, but some of the other stuff was unnecessary and probably would change already, people just need to have patience. Reminder: it's free to play and brand new to many people.

  7. I really have to disagree on a lot of pooints here. Especially on the Life skills. Behind them are some of the biggest end game rewards and you really can feel the time you put into a certain trait. The Lvl 20 and Lvl 30 upgrades are insane and I really enjoy the Platinum fields aswell. The difference between a lvl 40 forager and a lvl 15 forager is insane in lootand efficiency making it feel really worth to put time into it especially with the late game rewards behind all that.
Further gear is not ment to be tossed away quickly after tier 3. Honing over there will take you a long time and progressing through 1 gear set
Whatsoever I really agree on the more details in guardian raids etc. You have to be able to see how much dmg you dealt/your participation in each run atleast

  8. not an attack on this guy… i actually think he's great. but man oh man, do i disagree with a lot of his opinions. The game is great. yeah there are somethings that are annoying and frustrating but i think making everything too easy will ruin the game. If anything, the game should be far more punishing. the mechanics are great. mastering them is half the fun. and the game does warn you when things are about to hit the fan with a DING sound. I want it to be difficult to progress especially the closer you are to end game. I want it to be that everyone has to be on point and focused. i think asking for things you want really isn't going to do much like changing HUD because as a streamer there's so much on the screen.. like less than 5% of players are streaming.. its not a big deal. the lost ark team is doing great… the game is free! and i have hundreds of hours of gameplay. that should be enough, no?

  9. The bots are just out of control, its now just part of my day sitting in a spot and reporting every bot that runs by. (teleports, running faster than my mount, or lines of characters all named "aoihfdohsadf")

  10. No mods… You will have the same issue you have in WoW where it starts to become necessary to have mods and devs will start an arms race with modders. So you will never be able to play the game without mods later.

  11. dude , i have played online mmo's for at least 15 years, i am incredibly experienced and i agree with everything you say , i had already thought of all these before i watched this video, if you got a guild in EU central Inanna i would love to join

  12. In regards to the gear identity and replacing it so quickly, you have to consider that we are being given 3 years of buildup content out of the gate. We didn't have a year to sit in t1 and get attached to the gear, so it can feel like it's going to waste. In regards to a transmog system, I don't think it exists because skins are such a huge part of this game; that's where most people get their appearance for their character, and since the game is free to play, it's an essential way for Smilegate to make revenue.

Even as somebody who strives to min/max my class and output the most dps possible, I think that damage meters are far too toxic and I would even argue they are unnecessary in the game. The difficulty of end game content relies heavily on mechanics and not so much dps. Enrage timers are the sign that there isn't enough dps, but honestly I haven't seen a single enrage all the way to t3. If my group has failed to a boss fight, it has always been to players being dead because of mechanics. Even when pushing through guardians at min ilvl while progressing my main, I never saw a group run out of time with all players alive. I think this is partially why the game is considered to be so balanced and every class viable. The bosses don't require you to min/max to the extent of other MMOs, you just really have to be solid on mechanics. That being said, I do agree that some mechanics in t1 and t2 are not really intuitive. Even most English guides are not clear so far in explaining mechanics, so it can be frustrating to fail over and over and not understand why.

  13. I agree with most of the suggestions made. Gotta go with a no on the DPS meters though and leaning towards a negative on mod support. That being said both really depend on what the developers are aiming for with the community health/growth longterm.

My past experience has been that DPS meter no matter how they are implemented tend to have a negative impact on the community overall, yes they are a great tool to help improve an individual's performance. But they ultimately end up being used to pressure others into conforming or be excluded, rather then encouraging them to improve through constructive feedback and advice.

When it comes to mods, I love them for single player games where the experience is not impacting others. This a F2P mmrgp though and if mods are opened up it becomes a real issue to police them. While I expect the majority of the community would make some great tools/UI improvements. I can quickly see bot accounts taking full advantage of modding the game in negative ways… which is why we can't have nice things sometimes. Maybe the developers could implement modding in a limited fashion to promote community engagement, but I am not sure what that would look like.

  14. Dude, you just mentioned everything that i've been saying as well. The Guild system does not feel rewarding at all and I don't understand the need for the limitations it currently has. My guild transferred over to this game from New World and we still dont have the room for everyone to join. it's ridic lol

  15. VPNs are bannable offenses which stops 100% of chinese botting, which is around 90% of all botting in all games. The other 10% is made up of the eastern blockheads of europe and other asian countries where their currency is significantly weaker than the dollar. To stop them we will need region lock

  16. I dont believe full addon integration is a good idea, the last thing this game needs is a fully supported program that tells you where to stand in fights, which is what will happen. The best stance is most likely the one SE has, third party programs are against TOS and thats it, if you wanna use one then dont get caught or youre banned, we dont want them to start designing the game with addons in mind since that is what arguably ruined the raid scene in WoW, regardless of if you need it or not the community will make it mandatory

  17. @Legacy Gaming – Loot Identity suggestion: There is no need to overhaul the entire loot system, they can just add TONS of skins that every skin is different and gives some extra stats, maybe have skin sets etch and have a chance to drom from events like abyssals, boss rush etch. I know this will prevent skin selling on the store – but its a legit solution

  18. Personally I prefer the clear-cut oneshot gimmicks, over situations where you've failed the fight already, but won't know it before enrage 10min into the fight.

  19. The whole Loot identity-thing is not in their interest. I would guess thats the reason why there isnt any transmog-system at all too, because they are making cash with heavily overpriced skins. Why would they give you any system, where you would wear primarily ingame-gear?

  20. Lost Ark has many nice features.
But it also has many terrible ones.
It really needs a better skin system, something akin to FF14's glamour(skin/transmog) system, so if an old gearpiece happens to be nicer in style, you can wrap that on top of the current gear, like a skin, also easily having 15+ sets saved, which can be customized in a glamour dresser with dyes etc. So its just the actual first saved set in the dresser that needs the dye once, and its done.
In many ways the current systems Lost Ark has only makes it more obvious how predatory they were designed, which is a shame for a game that's otherwise super fun to play.
Also having all content be in Tier 3 and onwards is a huge problem, they really need to introduce more horizontal content that starts very early on, for a comparison, in FF14 you unlock glamour around lvl 15, which is an hour or so into the game, and even for that early only requires extremely cheap item to use, no special exotic materials, with exception of certain dyes.

  21. As someone who raid high tiers in past MMOs and currently at Tier 3, I don't want DPS add-ons, and meters in the game, the moment they introduce some sort of official DPS meter then people will start to look for efficiency and it will alienate a huge amount of playerbase from PUG groups because Party Finder will be filled with "will only accept players that can prove 'X' damage on the DPS meter"

  22. one of the best changes to improve the game is to improve amazon customer service reps. they are worst than reddit mods. i got banned for friendly banters with australian players in USW. worst thing i said was that australia is like elden ring where everything can kill you. then 1 day supension for abusive language!! ROFL! since im mad now. i will report everybody who says anything not nice. good luck people.

  23. I totes agree with ui mods and personal meters (I’d like to see how I do, not only when I’m on top), and character xfers. Transmog options would be great, cause right now everyone else looks alike.

  24. I agree with many of what you said aside maybe Lifeskills. I think they are fine. There are many ways makes you feel like you progressing so i dont get what else you want ? Tools, levels, mini games just for something like lifeskills is fine. As for gear ala wow i agree but how the company will sell skins and make money for their game ? Lets not forget this is a free to play massive game with a lot of development going on.

If you open API for mods would be awesome except one thing. Damage meters will kill the diversity of classes for end-game raiding and class diversity. Everyone will be playing the exact same builds and parties will be asking for the "best" damage classes at the time making the experience for many who are not supports a hardle if they are not on top tier dmg dealing. That will be a HUGE problem in a game that tells you to play what you like most. Will definitly make game a huge copy/paste all over the place and will kill the fun for some people for sure

  25. The game gives you a handful of free fashion items — goggles, a sprout on your head, bunny ears — and these items are bound to roster, so you can trade them between alts. But then as soon as you unlock them, they become class-and-gender locked, with no way to reacquire them on alts???

It's such a minor issue, but it's just baffling design.

  26. If "Lets leave WoW because it has too many issues. Lets move to lost ark and complain that its not WoW" was a video 😀
One of my biggest disagreements with you is about the 1shot mechanics. Bosses that do this, remove the option of carrying. Anyone who is in your group will ALWAYS deserve to be there. This makes pugging a lot more forgiving, especially with limitations with guild size and other server/friend related things. Its also best for free solo players.

  27. I wants mechanic that bring a party together to overcome obstacles….5 seconds prior “I don’t like stagger checks…”

Stagger Check is an clear mechanic that is also an obstacle that brings the party together to overcome. It’s kinda exactly what you are asking for.

Good video and everything else was pretty on point but I think “improving group content” needs more considered thought and improvement.
