Lose All Sense of Reality | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast Episode 227

It’s hard to stop a moving train, and when big corporations make meaningful decisions, the results occur over years, not days, weeks, or months. It’s clear now that Sony’s PSVR2 is stuck between a rock and a hard place — there’s simply no way Sony could have forecasted the last two and a half years of human history when this thing was being workshopped and greenlit — and with a high price, a bad economy, and a seeming dearth of actual games, well, PlayStation’s timing may be all wrong. Does PSVR2 have a real future? We discuss at length. Other news this week circulates around updated PS5 sales data and impressive numbers for 2018’s God of War, Microsoft’s 700th reiteration that Call of Duty will always remain on PlayStation, Electronic Arts’ new three game deal with Marvel, and much more. Listener inquiries round things out, per usual, touching on topics like a lacking creativity in PlayStation’s first party, why spoilers are so detrimental and wrong, and the potentially bright future of Mega Man. We also place a moratorium on a popular user-favorite term, because we need to mix things up a bit, and because we enjoy keeping you on your toes.

  1. regarding cod on the disc, did anyone try to install it without it being connected online? The Disc usually has older code then what's available on the server so it's not that there's nothing on the disc it's just that it downloads the updated version from the server. There's a good chance if you throw the disc in when you're not connected you can install and play the unpatched version.

  2. Re COD MW 2. Brings me back to my point I always make, never play these new games on launch. Unless you're a pro player, there really is no need. They launch in an awful state, and later get massive patches and often some nice features. Play day 1 and you get the worst version of the game.

  3. This new trend of releasing physical game boxes with nothing inside is gross. Luckily so far it's been crap games like Call of Duty and Halo infinite. But the Horizon forbidden west collector's edition releasing with no physical disc is the reason I didn't get it.

  4. My issue with PSVR2 is that it's already a niche product that they're now pricing many people out of, and people still aren't sold on VR due to barriers of entry, limited games library, and motion sickness. Also, as a rule of thumb I won't pay more for a peripheral than I will the console or PC it runs on. It's not like you can play PSVR2 wirelessly, or independent of other hardware either.

  5. Chris is silly with his Marvel bitchin' lol. Think of the children! 🤣🤣

Sony needs to be fun again. ALl of their games are moody dramas with characters set on rails.
