Lori Vallow Daybell’s Brother Tried to Gun Down Niece’s Husband in Drive-By, Detective Theorizes

Ryan Pillar, a detective with Gilbert Police, took the stand in “doomsday cult” mom Lori Vallow Daybell’s trial Thursday and testified about his investigation into the failed drive-by murder of Brandon Boudreaux, the estranged husband of Daybell’s niece. Pillar said all the evidence collected pointed to Daybell’s brother, Alex Cox, as the gunman who attempted to kill Boudreaux.

  1. Brandon narrowly escaped being a fifth victim – sixth victim if you suspect they somehow poisoned or otherwise murdered Alex, Lori's brother. All in the name of their religious cult beliefs? Insane.

  2. Witnesses, testify, many times say that someone said this and someone said that and someone told them this and someone told them that and it’s perfectly allowed and yet other times the witnesses are told no they can’t say what someone said because that’s hearsay. So why is it sometimes it’s a loud and sometimes it’s not?

  3. The defense's constant objection to "hearsay" in regard to this detective's testimony seems a bit over the top, since by definition all investigations conducted by law enforcement always proceed in response to hearsay. In other words, all reported crimes, technically speaking, begin as hearsay until they are fully investigated. Hearsay, therefore, is how the legal investigative process begins. It's an essential part of the job. These objections are indulgent legal bs. I understand that the difference between hearsay and actual evidence is important. However, there seems to be no acknowledgement of how essential hearsay is to the process of legal investigation. For example, if Brandon had not exercised hearsay by reporting an attempted shooting on him, no further evidence would have been discovered or documented. Hearsay, in this instance, is essential to the discovery of the truth. Yet no acknowledgement of any such value is attributed to hearsay. Instead, it's habitually shot down in an attempt to control the witness's testimony. This is just one of the many limitations of our justice system.

  4. If only they had listened to Charles… all of these people would be alive today!! If they had arrested Alex after his location showed up at 2 shootings (Charles and Brandon) they could have saved Tammy … wonder why they didn’t take him into custody when they did locate Alex?

  5. It’s amazing how Lori just doesn’t care about life. If somebody was in her way…they died. I pray daily that Justice is served and that truth come forward on all the people who died including Joe Ryan . Does anyone know if life insurance was involved in his death ?

  6. These defense attorneys know this "woman" belongs to darkness. They do not have strength in their voice as they supposedly defend this being. So glad that Brandon is still here to share his experience.

  7. Are they going to exhume her other sister, no one listened to Alex’s ex-wife’s interview! She did an interview saying that Alex was in love with Lori when they were younger which lead to their divorce, Alex also slept with a 15 year old and fled the state! He always followed Lori around and said infatuating & Erie things about his blood sister that made his wife feel extremely uncomfortable and she left. She didn’t know about him molesting & manipulating the 15 year old until the child’s father contacted her. They had another sister that Alex wasn’t really interested in as much as Lori (which is creepy) but Lori saw her sisters as competition!
One of her sisters passed away in an accident in her 20s, she didn’t see the other sister as much competition because she didn’t live near her or was close!
They NEED to check how that sister actually passed away!

  8. Turns out it was no paintball gun. Too bad they weren’t more familiar with guns. Could’ve saved her life— as she would’ve had a heads up to know to deal with it before it finally happened.
