  2. im a bit confused when you said marika stole death rune from maliketh when she was the one that charged maliketh on protecting it. The reason that she feared the godskin apostle faction also seems a bit of a stretch since you also explain that their leader got defeated by maliketh. Also another point that you mentioned she stole it to protect her family also doesnt make sense when the first one to fall was godwyn after the rune of death got stolen. In short im not convinced yet if it was marika that stole the rune of death.

  3. Marika using the tarnished to break free from the Elden Beast/Greater Will is an idea I hadn't considered before but it does bring into question what Gideon Ofnir says about her motives. That said, it is a viable missing piece in my personal theory of Marika seeking to break away from the Greater Will. More things to think on though, thanks.

  4. My interpretation of Marika is that she is selfish. It seems like everything she does is towards the goal of making herself (and keeping herself) top dog in the Lands Between. If I'm wrong, then feel free to correct me. There's so much in these games that's easy to miss.

I know Godwyn is referred to as the favored child, but I'm always curious as to why. So far, I haven't found anything that really points to why Godwyn would be the favorite. He was a great warrior like his father – and Marika banished the father as soon as he fulfilled his purpose. Perhaps Marika had similar plans for Godwyn. He was useful (or going to be useful) to her plans. Since he was not an Empyeran, he wouldn't be able to usurp Marika.

This leads me to question exactly why Marika is so distraught over Godwyn's death. Is it because she truly loves Godwyn, or (as I think) is she disturbed so much because Godwyn died, and what his death represents? Gods and Demi-gods are not supposed to die because of her own action of removing the Rune of Death. Something has interfered with her plan. This leads me to believe that she may have shattered the Elden Ring because she didn't want the Rune of Death to be restored.

I don't have anything direct to pull from, just my brain going down this path. If anyone has any juicy lore tidbits (or ideas of your own) that prove me false, I'd love to hear them! Speculation is so much fun.

Love the video, and thanks for sharing your thoughts.
