Today Is the Feast of Saint Marianne Cope: Born in The Year 1838 also known as Saint Marianne Molokai was a German – Born American religious Sister who was a member of the Sisters of Saint Francis of Syracuse New York and a founding leader of its Saint Joseph's Hospital in the City among the first 50 General Hospitals in the Country. Known for Her charitable works in 1883 She relocated with 6 other Sisters to Hawaii to care for persons suffering Leprosy on the Island of Molokai for 35 Years and aided in developing the Medical Infrastructure in Hawaii. Saint Marianne Cope who both met and cared for Father Damien De Veuster of Molokai when He himself contracted Leprosy. She eventually became His successor in His work when He died in the Year 1889. Despite direct contact with the patients over many years Saint Marianne Cope did not contract the disease. Sister Marianne Cope died of natural causes on August 9th. 1918. Saint Marianne Cope was Canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on October 21st. 2012. Saint Marianne Cope Pray For Us! Thank Rev. James Smith & God Bless! ⛪
