Looper X vs Looperboard – My First Thoughts

Thoughts are my own not meant to cause offence.

  1. I been wanting to switch to looper x from looperboard, but a big concern of mine is Ed's workflow. I been looping for almost 10 years, and I've developed my own workflow. Seems to be a lot of button pressing here, arming tracks and then pressing record rather than just pressing once to record. Hoping the new firmware is released soon, I can't see myself getting this unless I can custom map buttons.

  2. Will you keep using your VL3X for Vocal Effects when using the Looper X or would consider the using the Vox FX on the Looper X? this is my current debate. Thanks …and great videos!

  3. Great video. Took the plunge and got the looper X. I love it and even l like the mute work flow. I found it easy to use. I agree on the FX assigning, that was almost a deal breaker for me, but hearing that they will update, and I figured they would makes me think this will be the best looper out there or at least for me. Cheers!

  4. great comparison man, i actually had one of the sonnit loopers so i am quite used to ed sheerans workflow. I instantly bought the looper x and it comes in the mail today! with future firmware updates i have no doubt that this is going to be the best looper on the market. i know a lot of the rc600 fanboys will disagree however the pedals vs the triggers on the rc600 and headrush looper board are a deal breaker for me, i need physical pedals. have you tried using an external midi controller with the looper x yet? i plan on setting up one to control it when im by my keyboards

  5. Great video, Alex. Been looking to bite the bullet on a looper and this looks like a game changer. More videos on the functions and the workflow would be great!

  6. Oh one question :D. Did you compare the effects of the Looperboard to the Looper X? If so. How is the overall Quality? I found the looperboards effects pretty useless. It would be very nice if These are more up in Quality πŸ™‚

  7. Looperboard user here. Thanks for the vid! I returned mine because of what you point out here: 1) Can't assign FX racks to inputs; 2) the mute-driven work flow; I would need them to make it so you can use the top four foot switches as stop/start switches for tracks, using something similar to the "track stop/start" menu of the "Looper Settings" page of the Looperboard. They could leave the bottom four foot switches as is–> the stop all function would be the same; the recording function also, etc.
Anyway, if/when they give the board these capabilities, I'll most likely buy it again.
