Russia bombed a supermarket in eastern Ukraine today (August 9), killing at least 10 people and injuring 35 others. The bombing comes after a surprise attack from the Ukrainian army earlier this week, which appeared to be the most significant assault on Russian soil since Moscow invaded Kyiv in February 2022. In their boldest operation yet, the Ukrainian forces entered Kursk region on Tuesday with reportedly 1,000 troops, armed with Western armoured vehicles, artillery, and drones. They also released footage claiming that Russian forces are surrendering to the Ukrainian troops. After this incursion, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a state of emergency in Kursk and announced the deployment of additional troops and munitions to the region.
