Happy May 4th Paul & Carole! Right then! Las Vegas!
If you go to Vegas again definitely take a trip out to the Grand Canyon. We drove out and visited the Hoover Dam on the way, taking a tour inside. We managed to get a 2 night stay at the El Tovar hotel on the rim and it was incredible. I loved it at sunrise and sunset. On the way back to Vegas we drove on route 66 through Oatman, which is an old mining town that looks like something off a movie set. Donkeys walk up the street and they go in to bars and shops if allowed. It’s well worth doing and a lovely change from the madness of Vegas. Was my favourite part of the trip.

Our dearest friends live in Vegas.. and have forever… They live in N. Vegas (Summerset)… they don't even know that the strip exists! The gardens in the Venetian are my favorite things…. they do SUCH a fantastic job. It's a crazy place for us (we're from N. California! You guys always make me smile. Harrah's is named after Bill HARrah…. if that makes sense. He had casinos in Lake Tahoe.. and then Reno and Las Vegas! Safe travels!

Bonkers place. We stayed in Vdara as well when we went as a family. I also had a week in Vegas with work & stayed in the Venetian, biggest hotel room I've ever had. We hired a car and drove out to the dam. I only gambled $1 dollar in a slot, won $10 and called it a day. Got well lost trying to get out of a casino, they don't want you to leave 😂
Have been to Vegas twice and stayed at the cosmopolitan…in rooms overlooking the Bellagio fountains ,It's amazing how when you first arrive you rush out onto the balcony shouting ' it's the fountain show!!!!' And by the end of the week it's more like 'oh…it's the fountains again!' But is was wonderful to be able to see them so well from our room. Last time we saw Elton John and Penn and Teller…both wonderful shows.
Just remembering a cocktail that i had one (or maybe two of!!!😊!) at Margaretaville…the ' Its 5 o'clock somewhere'.
Thoroughly enjoyed your live from Las Vegas. I have been 3 times to LV and on each occasion had hired a car (twice a Mustang) from San Francisco and drove through the Mojave Desert, Death Valley the Volcanoes of the Cascades etc. I have stayed at the Excalibur in LV on each occasion only because I have full set of armour. I am also into geology – California ticks all the boxes. ANYWAY … I really found it funny that you got a pot and spatula with holes for a kettle. There are TWO THINGS that annoy me about the USA and that is the price you see is NEVER NEVER the price you pay and the other is that we and the Americans might speak an English language but we don't understand each other at all ref kettle. Separately on one occasion I was told by a bell boy in a New York hotel, on hearing my English accent, that I had to pay him a tip and told me how much as well! I would say more on other incidents but won't. I watch you on the telly and comment my mobile or spad.
