Watch CNA’s Nomination Day special for the Singapore Presidential Election from 10am on Aug 22. Three presidential hopefuls – former Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, former GIC chief investment officer Ng Kok Song and former NTUC Income chief executive Tan Kin Lian – are expected to show up at the Nomination Centre at People’s Association Headquarters.
Singapore will go to the polls to elect a new President on Sep 1, if more than one candidate is confirmed.

amazing🤩🤩
Why is TKL guy pointing his middle at Tharman's election paper. (1.40.57) This is very childish.
The historical context of Mr Ong’s presidency is crucial as we consider Tharman’s potential candidacy.
Since Mr Ong’s tenure, PAP has amended the constitution in 1996 to necessitate presidential consultation with the Council of Presidential Advisers (CPA) on matters concerning past reserves and key public appointments. If the president’s decision diverges from the CPA’s advice, Parliament can override it with a two-thirds majority vote.
Like how pap who keep changing the rules of the presidency isn’t childish?
I think the theory that Tharman is secretly revolutionary to the PAP is finally put to rest. Even in retirement he shores up the PAP’s power by running for presidency and preventing any form of critical inquiry on governance.
There’s much to be said about the GRC system that allows for such shenanigans that deprive voters of a voice.
Suffice to say a GRC losing an “anchor minister” disproportionally affects their representation in Parliament, to use the PAP logic.
Congrats on getting that bag, Tharman. Really slaying it.
Also, for those who think this is somehow proof of how much a threat Tharman is to PAP’s political agenda, let’s not take away Tharman’s agency. He is at the very least a willing participant in all of this.
Race and ethnic divisions have never been so pronounced in Singapore as they are today. The PAP Government is certainly responsible for engineering and maintaining the ethnic divide. Race-based politics and policies are not the way forward for Singapore. There are many initiatives and policies that have been put forward by the PAP Government that emphasise and demarcate a worsening racial, ethnic and religious divide between the various communities in Singapore. Deeds not words; Judge the PAP Government by their actions and the truth will make itself known to you.

Would anyone vote for a person who (1) calls his opponent to be to step down which shows fear of fair competition and disrespect of opponents, (2) who is so full of himself and wouldn’t apologize for past remarks that are insensitive even if past remarks may be unintentional. (3) Also who apparently did not reflect that there is need to sacrifice expenditure be frugal, when a person makes personal savings for future rainy, he / she has to sacrifice expenditure so that oneself and one’s family can weather rainy days and such savings is the more the better as nobody can foretell when a double storm will visit you. Instead of this third point, advocating against building up national reserves as much as possible in this very volatile global geopolitical tensions and global economic situations speaks volumes.
Don't forget singapore had long since changed to a multi-nation country, it's the pap party mistakes, and there's no way to u-turn back, good luck…

Good Luck #pe2023
Ng Kosong walk onto stage and out of stage without his wife by his side….tsk tsk tsk!!!
This PE is about voting for change. Each candidate brings about their perspective and promises different degree of change.
TKL promises radical change. He promises to exercise the full power and influence of the Presidential office for the benefit of all Singaporeans. If you're marginalized all your life and have nothing to lose, go for radical change. There is only the possibility of better life ahead and nothing much to lose.
NKS promises moderate change. He promises to safeguard the reserves and protect the integrity of public service. Some change may be better than no change, but is slow change better than radical change? Do Singaporeans want to wait their whole life to see the result of change?
Finally, TS. He promises no change. He wants status quo. He is an irrelevant Presidential candidate to the electorates. Do not trust PAP. Do not vote PAP.
To be more sustainable country please add more leave and mc and hl and child care leave…if this time want to have a good president help to do something where Singapore have all the lack that need to be done….we all vote you not because just for the sake of voting but to see some improvement in our country….medical bill please also waive for those poor people's….every year there is an election and we always vote for every 5 years but we still see till now there is no improvement at all in our country …. The way I see our country more and more rich but the people's in Singapore still struggling because sg too expensive. Everything allllllllll money money money….. Please for whoever become president this time please do something look around your sg citizens don't just sit at your chair only… Fell your Singaporean people's.. reach their hands for help
good
