I live in Rockford Illinois; extreme north central. We were surrounded by tornadoes about 7:30 and the radar showed one coming straight at us. I heard it roar right over our house. Some friends northeast of us heard it too . I’m a trained spotter and a hobby chaser, but this was a bit too close for comfort! My wife and our dog were in the basement, and when I heard that roar I got down there quite quickly.😆I fully expected to hear my house breaking apart. We thank God for his mercy and protection.🙏🙏

Can anyone explain why tornados usually move from SW to NE generally? I am new to the storm chasing community and always wonder why it takes that path? Or am I just too new to not understand it. Thanks for chasing storms and the whole community spreading the info on socials, you have all saved many lives with pre notification before the sirens.
