LIVE: Florida family awarded $300M in wrongful death lawsuit after son falls from Orlando ride

A Florida jury ruled that a German-based amusement ride maker owes $300 million to the parents of 14-year-old Tyre Sampson, who fell to his death in March 2022 after slipping out of the ride’s restraints.

The jury awarded Nekia Dodd and Yarnell Sampson $155 million each in damages.

The one-day trial was held on Wednesday. The amusement ride maker, Fun Time, was found negligent in the boy’s death and decided not to participate in the trial, the judge said.

  1. The reporter that asked the mother what does she plan to do with the money twice what the hell is it to you why do you want to know so bad what she plans to do with the money for those responsible for the ride that created the ride how heartless could you be to back out of the case how heartless can you be not to even show up to the court no apology nothing you gave too shits about her son her family they should shut you down completely since you didn’t want to own up to your wrong doing being unable to take accountability for the death of this young child if it was you how would you feel this isn’t a incident that was capable

  3. This is so sad, I think of him anytime I see this ride. I often look at these dangerous rides and see their victims faces😢 I’m glad they’re being held accountable. My prayers go out to this mom, family, and community 🙏🏾❤️

  4. My son almost fell off a child roller-coaster when he was 8 years old. Instead of harnesses that locked in across the chest, they had regular lap seat belts that barely fit close. My son was on the floor of the roller-coaster with the seat belt almost around his neck when the roller-coaster came down the hill. I stopped that ride so quickly and got my son off that ride. Although he's grown, we haven't done amusement park since then.

  5. Their entire family lineage is financially set for life.💲💲 but I'm sure this mom and his family would trade it all in to have him back.😢 if something good came out of this it's that the ride is permanently closed down and cannot kill another child.

  9. Those parents will forever grieve the tragic death of their son. No price will ever bring back their son but at least if they need to go far away for a while as long as they need they can or do something in his memory! You can see the pain in them like it happened yesterday. So tragic and this could’ve been avoided. 😢

  10. 😢 Bless this family. For me there's no amount of money that could help me losing a son. I had two miscarriages years ago and I was hurt, however my three adult children are well and i love them so much. Bless the lawyers for being strong enough to work on this case with the parents because i know that it wasn't easy for them either. ❤
