LIVE: Boeing Starliner returns to Earth without NASA astronauts

After months of turmoil over its safety, Boeing’s new astronaut capsule departed the International Space Station on Friday without its crew and headed back to Earth.

NASA’s two test pilots stayed behind at the space station — their home until next year — as the Starliner capsule undocked, springs gently pushing it away from the orbiting laboratory. The return flight was expected to take six hours, with a nighttime touchdown in the New Mexico desert. Read more: https://bit.ly/3Zg3bcm

  1. There is no life in space. It has been proven time and time again. Use that money for more serious problems here on earth. Like solving homelessness. By giving homeless people that live in the streets housing. Among other serious issues that need solving here.

  2. It's great that Trump has finally verified his requirements for male and female MAGA membership by posting that captioned photo of Harris and Clinton. Apparently, Dana Bash is a MAGA member. One thing we can rely on is NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, AND FOX kneeling before their orange Jesus to garden his mushroom

  3. I think Starliner did okay given the circumstances for a first flight. You know how many Space X vessels exploded before they got it right. I don’t remember Starliner doing that. And one of Space X explosions tore a big hole in the atmosphere.

  4. I hope Elon is tracking this landing in case they drop a reproduction from an aircraft for posterity while the real one burns up on re-entry. $650 Billion tax dollars to NASA since its inception. Every American could be living in a free new house and then some. Instead we play adult Estes rockets. Hasn't enriched my life one bit. Let Elon handle this from now on and save us all a lot of money.

  5. Back in mid-70s this (capsule launch/landing/docking/undocking) was a routine in the Soviet Union, almost like a New York – Tokyo commercial flight. Soviet Union is widely viewed as a compete failure, with its pieces (including Russia) being considered as 3-d (or even 4-th, 5th) world countries. It is amazing to see, after precisely 50 yrs, the the most technologically advanced country will have such a problem and the landing (of the unmanned capsule!) is still an event! What is going on?

  6. It's time "WE THE PEOPLE" revisity our "familyship" with Boeing. Doors falling off, Starliner not completing the mission "WE" paid for????? Any complaints? Buehler, Buehler, Beuhler? We have Amerricans, litterally "lost in space".

And what is it that some Teflon Tate ? Witch is so weak a excuse that it's a bet that they are covering for something else ? The tax payers money is not to be handed over when Boeing can deliver a well working human carrying capsule!

  8. Couldn't the two astronauts left behind, just jump out wearing a space suit and a parachute? They wouldn't be going fast so no friction to burn them up. When they got down to 10 thousand feets, they could deploy their parachutes.

  10. Who cares about Boeing? At this point, they can't even make airplanes properly. My bigger question is why the media is making this all about poor, poor Sunita Williams. BUTCH WILMORE. That is the name of the 61 year old astronaut ALSO STRANDED on the ISS. But, becuase he is a man its ok to ignore and forget this man right? Perhaps if the media spent less time playing woke identity politics to grab ratings, more would be known about this grandfather also trapped in orbit.
