  1. The Wild West chapter is based on Butch Cassidy’s Wild Bunch (the gang that pulled off the longest string of train and bank robberies in American history) and Sundown Kid is based on the Sundance Kid (one of the more popular members). O. Dio is based on Comanche, the only survivor of the Battle of Little Bighorn, which was a horse of George Armstrong Custer’s 7th Cavalry Division (one of the few famous horses in American history.) You also could’ve gotten the Good/True Ending by using Flee during the second Mad Dog fight (might’ve also inspired Undertale a bit.) Also, no, Sundown is not voiced by Kiryu’s VA, but Akio Otsuka (Solid Snake/Naked Snake/Venom Snake/Solidus Snake from Metal Gear Solid series, Xehanort from Kingdom Hearts, Wammu from JoJo, Ryoma Hoshi from Danganronpa V3, and many others.) Megalomania, the chapter boss/superboss theme, is the inspiration for Toby Fox’s Megalovania (Undertale and etc.) Live A Live as a whole, is pretty influential and existed before Chrono Trigger and inspired the battle system for Parasite Eve.

Undertale is based on the Edo Japan chapter, where you can kill 100 (Genocide Route) or don’t kill any (Pacifist Route.) The chapters also change the battle system’s context/genre, which Undertale and Deltarune took inspiration from. Deltarune’s Knock you Down is based on the song of the same name, which is the battle theme of Modern Day. Distant Future is based on Alien and 2000: A Space Odyssey and the characters are based on famous Sci-Fi names (Darthe/Darth Vader, Hal/HAL, Kirk/Captain Kirk, etc.) All chapters have different character designers, which are all mangakas (the Detective Conan mangaka designed the main character for Edo Japan) and Yoko Shimomura’s (composer for Kingdom Hearts, Super Mario RPG, Parasite Eve, Xenoblade Chronicles, Street Fighter 2, and etc.) first job at Square Soft was the music for Live A Live, which she returned for the Remake.
