There's a level 2 bug catching net, but I haven't seen anything to catch "critters" yet. It seems you only get hearts if you give out gifts. Also, if you give favorite gifts, and birthday gifts, you can get some recipes. (may be character dependent)
Such a fun and cute game. I am playing myself, just a couple days ahead of this on my own file. Cannot wait for the festivals to be put in fully and functionally. Also, kelp does indeed regrow/respawn in the diving area, and you will need tons of it. Not only is it a 10-1 ratio for the essences, but it is needed to make sprinklers as well. What a fun series, I cant wait to see where you go with it and how it differs from my own play.
Maybe you could get more things in the general store to buy (like fruit) and other shops, if you donate more to the museum and getting the town grade up? Not sure if that is the way, but you could try it.
The diving in this game is different, but I like it. I hope you finally find out about how you get fruit. Thanks for sharing. I am busy packing our house sold. And I will be flying to North Carolina. We lived there but in the Great Smoky Mountains area. It is 2900 miles away. So I might get backed up, I am playing now instead of packing because my back hurts I know you can understand that. Good job on the bug catching! Also the area with the lookout near the temple you can walk down that path to get to the teleport shrine.
I would love it if your videos were a bit longer. Also please know you can sprint in this game, without using your energy.

Instead of 3 day episodes you could make the day length longer in the settings. 100% is like a 20 min day but a 50% is about 40 min day
