Lil Yachty – Let's Start Here. ALBUM REVIEW

Listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igFtut_1drQ

Let’s Start Here’s appeal isn’t owed to the novelty of Yachty going psych rock. That he clearly did his homework and was inspired to put his own spin on these sounds is the impressive part.

  1. this is really gonna be a turning point for artists who feel stuck in a box of a single genre of sound to be like “oh man if LIL YACHTY can do THIS, what are others capable of and, more importantly, what am I capable of?” I hope this lets artists be able to step out of their comfort zone and make a left of center album that they would LOVE to make. I smell a whole rock album coming from uzi soon.

  2. If you want some actual psychedelic music listen to this playlist i’ve made

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizards – Work this time

    ANY Homeshake SONG

    Unknown Mortal Orchestra

    Hoops – 4 U

    Good Morning

    Melody’s Echo Chamber

The difficulty in pivoting as a rapper has to do with the lack of talent it takes to actually make rap music compared to other genres like rock, psychedelic music, experimental music. Hence, the musicians he used to help write and produce the album. For me this album was below average and like. 4/10. Structurally the songs are fine but the new direction he’s taking is him moaning over tame impala instrumental. Definitely new, but still trash.
