think your thumb will cause a drop in retention as it's seemingly in the vein of the "before/after" skincare but isn't; causing a dropoff. My 2 cents.
Hey Sergio, I totally agree with you on Guided Meditation. I don't like them either. I find it to be a distraction. I prefer to set a 10 to 20 min timer and start my meditation session.
what timer are you using in the video?
Super interesting approach! Thanks for sharing!
Meditation is not what you THINK. It is the focusing of your attention on something other than your thoughts, e.g., any other of your senses: the sound of the AC, the sensations of your breathing on your chest or nose, or musculoskeletal proprioception. You just need to dedicate 15 to 20 minutes early in the day before negative thinking resumes and gathers momentum. If you are able to focus away from your thought for a total of 2 to 3 minutes in this time, that is good enough. The mind hates a vacuum, and thoughts will re-enter your attention. Thus, meditation is a repetitive practice of refocusing on your chosen sound or sensation. It is very common to have to refocus many many times per session. However, accomplishing a meditative state is immediately felt upon finishing. Besides the peaceful tranquility that is felt upon finishing, the benefits of silencing thoughts in meditation is the conscious experience of doing so, as opposed to the unconscious freedom from thinking during sleep. Experience is the best teacher. The analogy is the cork floating on water: if you don't have negative thoughts, your cork will float, i.e., your vibration will rise to the surface naturally if you don't fixate on the negative. Negative thoughts serve a good purpose, i.e., to give us contrast and therefore clarity as to what we do prefer, however, we have a tendency to remain fixated more of the time on the negative. Positive thinking or looking for reasons to love will raise our vibration every time.
The Beatles' spiritual guru, Maharishi Mahesh, founded the organization known for Transcendental Meditation, where each practitioner is given a unique gibberish mantra to recite during meditation. It is actually very effective because the mantra word or phrase keeps your brain's communication faculty busy, and you're able to block thoughts. Make up your own meaningless mantra to recite. Counting while you inhale and exhale also helps. You can also get biofeedback with a device called Muse 2.0 that works with your phone.
great video, thanks you for sharing! I will surely try Inside Timer to see if I feel better than using a guided meditation.
