‘Letting down our allies’: Labor ‘contradicting itself’ over Ukraine’s defence request

Sky News host Peta Credlin has slammed the Albanese government for “contradicting itself” and “letting down our allies” after they rejected a request to donate retired helicopters to Ukraine.

Ukraine is pleading with the Australian government to donate its fleet of retired Taipan helicopters instead of dismantling and burying them.

It was revealed on Thursday morning that Defence Minister Richard Marles was yet to respond to a request from the Ukrainians which came more than a month ago.

Acting Defence Minister Pat Conroy formally rejected the request this afternoon.

“Yet again, the Albanese government seems to be contradicting itself and letting down our allies when it comes to defence and foreign policy,” Ms Credlin said.

“It’s worth keeping in mind that this really is not a huge ask given these helicopters are grounded – we’re not using them – they’re going to be chopped up by our military and disposed of.

“[Mr Conroy’s remarks are] a blatant mischaracterisation of the situation – they are asking us for assistance.”

  1. What a laod of warmongering garbage from a person without any credible information at all.
All she has is irrational and fact-less opinions and views…and they aren't news.
News is objectively verified facts; not opinion, views, nor beliefs.

  4. I’m honestly not surprised on what Albo and the communist party in this country are doing. All their decisions are based on keeping socialists, terror organisations and their overlords in Russia and China happy and little else. I know the coalition especially under ScoMo and Turdbull were just as bigger traitors to not only Australia and the Aussie people but this arse clown and his idiot mates in the Federal Government are really sinking to ever increasing new lows all the time. We really need to wake up before idiots like Albo destroy our democracy and our relationships with the free world.

  7. What a disgusting scum nation. Australia and New Zealand needs to remember they begged the U.S to supply equipment and manpower in WW2 which America also saved this part of the world. Commonwealth nations are useless which the U.S saved many times over and over.
