  1. While this does avoid the "one room" syndrome some novels have, it still somehow has the symptoms. This also oddly lets you pick how your character looks and your name. Usually this means that the character is just purely for pov, but this character seems to have an identity, preferences, preconceptions and the like. It creates this strange feeling that's only exacerbated by how much of an inner monologue there is.

Beyond just translation though, the writing seems to be working against itself. This is supposed to be a post apocalypse in a desert setting but they have ice, water, greenery, livestock and wood. The pov knows about oceans and the Olympians despite again being in a post apocalypse. The main character goes on about how he can't trust people but immediately decides to fully trust a bear, work with him, fall asleep near him and calls out when Masamune didn't ask for help and being witholding.

Positive for it has to be the background art followed by the character art. The backgrounds have a lot of work put into them and the opening one even has little bird animations in it.

  2. Yup, “roaches in the head” is a Russian saying. Pretty self-explanatory, I think.

AFAIK from actually being Russian, the abundance of exposition and inner monologues is a staple in Russian literature. So much so, that it’s a treat for me to find and read something straightforward. Contradictions in characterization are not as common, though.

  3. Not sure if you're looking for more novels, but the team behind Neven recently released a new work named Blazing Passion. Its for this years May Wolf so there might be even more works that came out with it.
