  1. Another play our game our way patch, as if it's their game. Upon release, an online game belongs to the players, in my view, and creators become part of the service industry. Not a widely held view over the past 20 years, I know, as the concept of the MMO changed. I don't PvE. I came here for PvP. Many of us did. I get it, I do. Same thing happened with other games dating back to Ultima Online which took an abrupt turn toward PvE and never looked back. Same with ESO. And it makes sense, commercially.

  2. My biggest concern is for the new lvl 60s. Yes there is a way now to reliably up our expertise. But now that they have changed some of the elite zones to 66, there isn't anything in between. Also, how is a new lvl 60 supposed to get their artifact quest items when they are all in lvl 66 elite zones (including some of the changed ones). As for Imperial Palace, don't you have to go through it to get to the Ship yard Expedition (lvl 55)? How is that supposed to work?

  3. I love the new scaling down of the expertise system to prevent people from skipping the grinds, maybe allow self crafted armor to stay its GS as a compromise to the crafters who wont stop complaining

  4. I think people will still buy 600 GS equipment because they can still wear it.
It will just act like whatever your current expertise level is.
So you can equip a 600 GS hammer but the damage and stats will only be as high as your expertise.
Then as your expertise goes up your 600 GS hammer now gets better and better.

  5. It’s good and bad. Good for those people who didn’t put any effort on increasing watermark or level up their crafting trade.

Bad for those who has put money and effort on leveling up their crafting trades. Crafters are penalized by not being able to sell crafted gear since no one will be buying their crafted high GS weapon/armor. Amazon should at least let crafters be able to use their crafted high GS weapon/armor without having their watermark up. Otherwise there isn’t much benefits on leveling up trades skills….

  6. Now Crafters can't progress by using their own own weapons/gear, setting that entire player segment back months. Additionally, this renders some legendary/epic weapons pointless as they were bind-on-acquire/bind-on-craft to begin with. If you can’t sell it and you can’t use it without it scaling down the watermark, then what is the point of the item even existing?

  7. I like it all except for the tuning gear to your current watermark. Gear you buy or find should not change depending on your watermark. A possible solution to this would be to make all new, gear after the patch unwearable unless your watermark is high enough but penalizing players by nerfing the gear players currently have is just bad form

  8. I’m glad that you cover everything in a optimistic yet realistic viewpoint. Make your explanations and thoughts relatable. In terms of the WM system, I personally have not done it because I don’t want to do chest runs to ‘gear up’ because it takes away from the MMO feeling. Expertise does feel harsh, especially to crafters, but we’re only two months in and they’re showing they have no problem revamping entire systems. While I understand people quit because of all the issues, I’m here for the long haul and just glad demone is helping lead it.

  9. Always love your objective stance on this stuff. IMO the expertise effectiveness is a non-starter for me. This game is fantastic because of its intended quality of life, catering to casual and hardcore people. This makes no sense, the current system allows people to play both ways – spend time farming gear score to make money and get better gear, or if you don't have the time you can buy it and just enjoy the game. Either way, generally speaking – more play experience nets a better player. People that want to farm gear score will, people that don't and complain there is no end-game progression are just skipping what IS there ( not to say its good, the other changes are a great push towards that ).

  10. End game dungeon drops should be 590-600 guaranteed on very low drop rates, with an unlimited use tuning orb like most other games, or quest attunement. I don't know why they just refuse to use something that works. They've just fucked crafters so hard for virtually no reason.

  11. Solid changes. With how diluted the TP is with 580+ gear why would people even want to farm gear score when they can pay 1000 gold for a full set. Sounds like higher crafting will be rewarded too, possibly crafting your own gear will increase gs? Not sure. I think this will be a good fix for the economy making weapons and armor with GOOD perks and stats more valuable for everything above 500 instead of just 590-600.

  12. I like and dislike this…does this mean…at least at first, it will funnel people more so into classes? Now you can just pop on what you want but if you Start using these in specific gs like lifestaff, you may start seeing more class separation. Thoughts?

  13. It seems to me that the expertise system is just a continuation of the leveling system as far as the quality of gear you can use. Pre-level 60, your level determined what kind of gear you could equip and use whether it dropped for you, or you purchased it from the Trading Post. Post-level 60, the expertise system will work in a similar way as you can only benefit from the gear that is at or below your expertise level whether it dropped for you, or you purchased it from the Trading Post.

  14. I see this system working for providing a clear certain path for getting from 60 (500) to 60 (600).
People will soon have guides for: 500-520 do this; 520-540 do this etc etc.

If you crafted 580-600 gear it isn't going anywhere, you just have to wait 2-3 months to use it.
They have reacted to the biggest issue in the game, that is a good thing.

Not sure if I missed it but if my 560 store bought item is downgraded to my 500 expertise, will that show on the weapon somehow or only by looking at the new expertise slot?
It would be wise to show the weapons as 560(500) or 500(560).
