  1. It's funny that the topic of Fallout came up because I was watching a video last night about the different voice actors in Fallout 3 and apparently the guy who voiced the Mr. Gutsy robots is the same dude who voiced Dagoth Ur.

  2. 3:36 I don't know what makes me feel older: the "teaser" for TES6 being seven years ago, or FO4 being nearly 10yrs old.
31:29 Fallout is one of those franchises that I have a "complicated" opinion of. My intro was NV (mostly because of this channel, I'd wager. Though there's another that helped), and I was quite meh on it, even heavily modded. FO4 was quite fun for a long while, and then got stale pretty hard. Something about the stories in both those games just doesn't sit with me. It feels like the rest of world is incompetent or something, I think my very first NV playthrough I "ended" by "taking the platinum chip out of the Mojave", and I've never gone past meet-killing Caesar. Wonderful setting, though.
40:01 That is the correct response. They were pretty generic in Arena and Daggerfall, the only super weird one has been Morrowind.

  3. Dickheads and fannyheads, dogs and cats, welcome to Let's Play Morrowind?

Yes, people don't know how to interpret statistics and think that people generally died in their 40s-50s in the middle ages, and it is largely due to infant mortality, as you said. Child mortality, really; generally, if you lived to the age of 10-13 and nothing else came along to kill you, like war or the plague, you could expect to live to your seventies. Living to 80, let alone 100, was quite rare, because end of life care was nowhere near as good as it is today, which means there was also less weight on the high end to counterbalance the child mortality rate, as well. Plus, childbirth killing the mothers and the general strain on the body of pumping out 8-15 kids in the hopes a couple would survive to adulthood really brought down the average female life expectancy.

In a similar misconception (though for very different reasons), medieval people didn't actually marry kids very often. Peasants and freemen tended to get married around 16-20 for women and 18-24 for men, because no one wanted a spouse who wasn't capable of taking care of their part of the household. It's just that most of our records from that time come from the nobles and wealthiest merchants, who were marrying off their kids for political alliances, instead of as part of making a relatively content life for themselves like the lower classes did.
