  1. Scurvy is a severe vitamin C deficiency. The human body needs vitamin C to produce collagen (the tissue that connects your muscles and bones and makes up your skin), heal wounds, support your immune system, and help in many other internal processes.

So, since collagen is a vital component for scar tissue, scar tissue would quit regenerating and sailors would start bleeding through old wounds.

  2. I have no aversion to save-scumming, and this looks a bit more fun than I initially thought it would be. However Kalypso seems somewhat picky on what they invest in. Railway Empire has gotten plenty of content since it launched, but I don't think Port Royale 4 has received such treatment, so I have doubts on this game improving much post-launch.

Heck, the developer Gaming Minds Studios doesn't even have this game on their website, lol.

  3. Hey,great (short) series… I picked it up day one and really like concept and nice to see it was a bit deeper than I was expecting. Like you, have had PR4 on my wishlist and through many sales as well, but never pulled the pin on it yet. Since I loved the original SM Pirates this seemed very close in gameplay. I am fine with the turn based combat and mechanics but a couple things that stand out as not perfect (to me)… 1) I really wish they could have included some damage visuals at minimum in the combat sequence views… just odd to see sails 100% damaged but visually they look pristine…. 2) and literally what you mention around 6:35 even outmanned, outgunned the AI seems to ALWAYS try to engage you instead of attempting to run away once in battle. In SM Pirates, during the zoomed in real time combat sequences the AI would often try to escape if in a deficit which made the ship combat a bit more interesting and real… also made the wind, speed and damage system more relevant when engaging. They have done well, but it would be nice to see some improvements for sure, especially if it sold well, for post launch support. Keep up the AWESOME videos.
