It seems that maybe the bad guy, isn’t really the bad guy. Or…I’m just reading a bit too into things. Either way, with our first, real battle under our belts, we’ve impressed and are now leading our own team. 🙂

3:20 I mean… Devoa's saying that… but give him a few chapters and see again what's his opinion on the matter. 😅
6:20 First 4 units are basic troops.
The last couple of units are mercenaries which are better, but cost more coins, and leadership skill to field, unless you are using them as leaders.
6:50 You probably already figured it out, but no. you don't pay upkeep from what I know. It's just the initial pay, and then the cost to field them.
For mercenaries it's increased by 2, so it means eventually you will be able to field a squad with only 5 people, instead of 6 for example.
Also, whenever you see gems or other resources for sale, make sure to buy them.
Later on they aren't that rare necessarily, but they are useful to actually getting you to that later point in the game.
11:30 Even though the random guy's leadership is higher, he still can't be a leader because he is a basic tier 1 class.
You need a unit that is at least tier 2 to be able to appoint them as squad leaders.
That is shown by the small star next to their head when you are viewing them in the Reserve.
You might also consider "closing up" Devoa's front line to use the front units as cover, as they are meant to be.
As well as placing units behind other units, and not simply throwing them out there, like in the new squad you created at the start. 😅
12:40 Yeah, you basically want "Mentorship" to be able to train new leaders. Otherwise you'll have a bit harder of a time dealing with it.
31:00 You can revive troops once you capture the temple up north on that map.
Or since you are on the middle "Captain?" difficulty, you can just let him be and he will automatically revive at the end of the battle.
