We have finally reached the first HD game of Fantathon, Final Fantasy XIII. Many regard this as the first game of the modern Final Fantasy era, for better or for worse. I want to pay specific attention to what makes this game so special in the hearts of many fans, as the game became so popular with niche groups that it spawned not one but two direct sequels, more than any other game in the series.

  1. I find the Axis Blade to be one of lightning best weapons however the Axis blades main thing is not the stats its the attack ATB charge II ability it gets when it upgrades its a lot better than it seems at first glance however there is a sword that i dont think you have yet and that is probably the best overall but you would need someone far more experienced in ff13 to know exactly which is best.

    The Gladius is not particularly highly rated overall but all the weapons are good in their own way so good to see you just do whatever lol

  2. I was the commenter you mentioned, or at least I was one of them. I never said the Gladius wasnt good, I was just stating there are other weapons that are better. By the comment you made "let me see the big numbers and go whamy ka-blamy" then yes, but the passives some of them have are worth the stat reduction.

    Also, I agree that Synergyst should do protect/shell before Bravery/Faith, which is why I find it best to control your synergyst/medic over your ravagers/commandos. But thats because I hate the AI for Synergyst/Medic.

    Backseatting going forward:

    The other thing you have to be mindful of is you have Lightning as a ravager, and if you control her to do the strikes you are fine, but auto ability is going to have her transfer from strike to cast to strike and those abilities like Fire/Blizzard go off the magic stat while Strikes go off of Attack. As commando, Ruin is magic stat. Lightning is more beneficial, as you play her, to be more evenly balanced with strength and magic.

I REALLY want to tell death some OP weapons and accessory combos. it's something he's not really delved into in this playthrough yet, he's seen glimpses of it when he gets extra "perks" when putting on say a defensive weapon and defensive armour but i'll let the man cook how he wants to. it's fun to see the upgrade choices players make in each playthrough. i personally just go full damage accessories and dont touch weapon upgrades till end game.

  4. Maybe this makes me a mega nerd, but when you said you were going to do your upgrades as efficiently as possible it made me extremely happy :p Great episode, I like the experimentation.
