What happens when two dynamic (and wildly entertaining) science educators come together to talk about evolution VS. creationism? This podcast answers the question. With Forrest Valkai and Erika / Gutsick Gibbon.
Ummm, why would clotting have to evolve simultaneously… I mean, blood didn't necessarily start as something you would ever want to clot…something that wouldn't be evolutionary efficient until your organisms are of a large enough size and live mostly terrestrial lives.
This idea that Noah took âkindsâ of animal onboard, is derived not so much from âThe Bibleâ, as from âThe English translation of the Bibleâ.
Whereas kind may mean nothing as far as taxonomy is concerned, the German term Art (pl. Arten), and the French term espĂšce are exactely the scientific terms for species. The title of Charles Darwinâs book âOn the Origin of Species âŠâ for example translates as âĂber die Entstehung der Arten…â, or as âL'Origine des espĂšces…â respectively.
One would have to ask a guy like Dr. Josh for the original Hebrew word, but that leaves you with the problem that these guys didnât do taxonomy back then. Maybe it would be worth checking what the word in modern Hebrew is, and if this has any scientific meaning.
41:44 "Science predicts, and Creationism accommodates." Erica/Gutsick Gibbon – my favorite quote of 2023. Forrest Valkai is AWESOME! Seth Andrews, your podcasts are my goto for sanity. Thank you! â€
-First i was thinking "1hour plus" – that's gonna be alot of smalltalk and intro … FFW 1:30 and i'm feel like young Anakin Skywalker podracing on Tatooine for an hour.

Please someone invite them to a place where they can sit for 10 hours and talk about evolution
Amazing duo!
Erika sounds like Alteori đ (Channel talking about films)
I would watch every single episode of a show with just these 3 sounds off about science, life and everything!
Please do this more!
Thanks for having two people that make me realize just how dumb of an ape I truly am on your podcast. This was really fun.
Well MY world exploded at least!! Goddamn what a great discussion! Thanks everyone!

Genesis 6,20 in English: âOf fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind …â. (King James Bible), in German: âVon den Vögeln nach ihrer Art, von dem Vieh nach seiner Art und von allem GewĂŒrm auf Erden nach seiner Art…â (Luther Bible), and in French: âDes oiseaux selon leur espĂšce, du bĂ©tail selon son espĂšce, et de tous les reptiles de la terre selon leur espĂšce …â (Louis Segond Bible).

I'm a 64-year-old dude, and the discussion of nested hierarchies starting at 16:55 literally brought tears to my eyes.
I get so much more a sense of the "miraculous" hearing these two talk than I do when I hear any infantile "god did it" arguments.
Thanks for this, all three of you…
